India completed an unbeaten group-stage campaign at the Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026 with a commanding 45-24 victory over Sri Lanka on October 29.
The 21-point win capped a perfect run for the Indian team, which won all six of its group matches and secured its place in the semifinals. India's performance against Sri Lanka was built around an effective raiding unit and a disciplined defensive effort. Pankaj Mohite led the scoring with 15 raid points, while Aditya Shinde contributed 10. At the other end, Nitesh and Yogesh Dahiya played important roles in India's defensive performance, combining for nine tackle points.
With the group stage now complete, India will return to action on October 30, looking to carry its winning momentum into the knockout rounds.
India established control against Sri Lanka through its attacking output. Pankaj Mohite was the standout performer, collecting 15 raid points and consistently putting pressure on the opposition defence. Aditya Shinde provided excellent support with 10 raid points, giving India two major scoring options. Their contributions helped the team register 22 successful raids and build a substantial advantage over Sri Lanka.
India's defensive unit also made a significant contribution. Nitesh scored five tackle points, while Yogesh Dahiya added four. The team accumulated nine tackle points and earned another six points through all-outs.
The combination of effective raiding and defensive execution ensured that Sri Lanka struggled to keep pace. India eventually closed out the contest 45-24, completing its sixth consecutive group-stage victory. The result underlined India's consistency throughout the opening phase of the championship. Winning all six matches provides the team with a strong platform as it prepares for the more demanding knockout stage.
Bangladesh Book Semifinal Place with 70-20 Rout
Bangladesh produced one of the most dominant performances of the day, defeating Scotland 70-20 to secure its place in the semifinals. Md Al-Amin led the attack with an outstanding 24 points, while Md Hasibul Hossain added 12 and Akash Md Julfiker contributed six. Bangladesh's attacking unit was particularly effective, collecting 44 raid points.
The team also registered 12 tackle points and 10 points from all-outs, demonstrating its superiority across both departments. Scotland struggled to contain Bangladesh's raiders, with Arun Sidhu emerging as its leading scorer with nine points. However, the gap between the teams proved too substantial to overcome.
The 50-point victory highlighted Bangladesh's attacking strength and confirmed its progression to the last four.
Tanzania delivered a balanced performance to defeat England 36-27. Juma Sultania led the Tanzanian scoring with 11 points, while Ali Bakari contributed nine. England remained competitive through Felix Li, who finished as the team's leading scorer with 12 points. However, Tanzania's defensive effort helped it maintain control and secure a nine-point victory.

Nigeria found it difficult to match Uganda's attacking output. Ekpe Victory Emmanuel led the Nigerian scoring with seven points, but his contribution was not enough to prevent a 25-point defeat.

Kenya rounded off the day's action with an emphatic 76-27 win over Australia, producing the highest team score among the results reported. Tobias Kinywa Murithii led Kenya's raiding effort with 21 points, while Stephen Adongo contributed 14. Kenya's attacking dominance was reflected in its 48 raid points, supported by 13 tackle points and 12 points from all-outs.
Australia struggled to contain Kenya's raiders despite Divot Singh scoring 10 raid points and Jasmeet Grewal adding nine.
The 49-point margin demonstrated Kenya's superiority across the contest and provided a strong finish to its group-stage action.
India's 45-24 victory over Sri Lanka was the headline result from an important day at the Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship. Six wins from six matches mean the defending regional powerhouse enters the knockout phase unbeaten.
The performances of Mohite and Shinde in attack, combined with contributions from Nitesh and Yogesh Dahiya in defence, offer plenty of encouragement for the Indian coaching staff.
However, the knockout stage will present a different challenge, with the margin for error significantly smaller. India will return to the mat on October 30, aiming to extend its winning run and move closer to the championship title.
