Women’s Wrestling Moves Into Knockout Stages

With the Greco-Roman events concluded, attention has shifted to the women’s wrestling category, where the competition has entered the advanced knockout rounds.

In the 57kg category, the bracket has begun to take shape. Kajal Choudhary progressed with a win over Muskan and is set to face Shivani, who defeated Suhani. On the other side, Reena advanced past Nisha Saini and will meet Hansika Lamba in the semifinals after Hansika secured her quarterfinal win.

The progression of these bouts reflects a competitive field, with multiple wrestlers still in contention for top positions and national ranking points.

The 65kg category has moved through the pre-quarterfinal stage, with several wrestlers advancing into the next round. Dishun defeated Ankita Kumar, while Janvi overcame Tanu. Sneha secured a win against Ritu, and Deeksha Sheor progressed after defeating Sonam Singh. These results set up a competitive quarterfinal lineup, where margins are expected to remain narrow given the evenly matched field.

In the 76kg category, the competition has already reached the semifinal stage. Ishita Choudhary and Meghna are set to face off in one of the key bouts, with a place in the final at stake. The progression to this stage indicates consistency across earlier rounds, with both wrestlers managing their bouts effectively.

The shift from Greco-Roman to women’s wrestling marks a transition phase in the tournament. While the Greco-Roman events provided clarity on rankings in that discipline, the women’s category is now approaching its most decisive stage.

The knockout rounds are expected to define the final standings, with each bout carrying direct implications for rankings and future opportunities.

As the tournament moves toward its conclusion, focus will remain on the remaining women’s bouts and final outcomes across categories. The results from Gonda will play a role in shaping India’s wrestling calendar, particularly in identifying athletes for upcoming national camps and international competitions. The Senior Open Ranking Tournament continues to serve as a structured platform for evaluating domestic talent. With Greco-Roman champions confirmed and women wrestlers advancing toward finals, the event has delivered both results and insights into the current depth of Indian wrestling.

The coming days will determine the remaining medal winners and finalize rankings, completing another important cycle in India’s wrestling pathway.
