AM Green IGPL, Asian Tour Strengthen Partnership After Successful Morocco Events

The AM Green Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) and the Asian Tour have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening professional golf in the region by continuing their successful partnership following an impressive Morocco swing earlier this season.
The collaboration between the two organisations has already created valuable competitive opportunities for Indian and international golfers, with co-sanctioned tournaments in Morocco serving as a significant milestone in the league's ambitions to provide players with greater exposure on the global stage.
As the 2026 season enters its second half, both organisations have confirmed they will continue working closely on tournament scheduling, player pathways and development initiatives aimed at strengthening professional golf across Asia.
The partnership was showcased earlier this year through two back-to-back tournaments held at the Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort on Morocco's Atlantic coast. The first event, the USD 160,000 AM Green IGPL Morocco Rising Stars 2026, was conducted on the Asian Development Tour (ADT) from May 28 to 31, providing emerging golfers with an opportunity to compete in an internationally recognised tournament.
That was followed immediately by the USD 500,000 AM Green IGPL Bharath Classic, held from June 4 to 7 as an official Asian Tour event. The tournaments marked an important step in IGPL's international expansion, with the Bharath Classic becoming the league's flagship event to be staged outside India for the first time.
One of the biggest positives from the Morocco leg was the opportunity created for players competing on the IGPL Tour.
More than 40 golfers from the IGPL Tour earned places in the Bharath Classic field, giving them valuable experience competing alongside established professionals on one of Asia's premier golf circuits.
The continued collaboration forms a key pillar of IGPL's long-term vision of creating structured pathways for Indian golfers to progress from domestic competitions to international tours. Rather than operating as separate entities, the IGPL and Asian Tour have focused on building an integrated ecosystem where talented players receive opportunities to compete at progressively higher levels.
The partnership is expected to continue facilitating smoother transitions for Indian professionals aspiring to establish themselves on global tours while simultaneously strengthening competition standards within the region.
With Indian golf continuing to grow in recent years, access to higher-level tournaments has become increasingly important for player development. The IGPL believes partnerships such as this provide exactly that platform.
Asian Tour Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer Cho Minn Thant praised the relationship between the two organisations following the successful Morocco events.
"IGPL and the Asian Tour recently completed a two-week spell in Morocco which saw us hold ADT and Asian Tour events back-to-back at the spectacular Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort," he said. "Working together with IGPL is important to us and we look forward to continuing our association into the future."
Cho also acknowledged the impact the league has already made on Indian golf. "It is great to see that IGPL has made some bold moves and added a new dimension to Indian golf which benefits both players and golf fans alike."
Looking ahead to the remainder of the season, he expressed confidence that the partnership would continue producing exciting competition. "I have no doubt that we will get to see some very exciting golf in the second half of the season. My best wishes to IGPL and its players."
AM Green IGPL Chief Executive Officer Uttam Singh Mundy also highlighted the importance of maintaining a strong working relationship with the Asian Tour.
"We have a strong collaboration with the Asian Tour and we continue to strengthen that relationship, and I'm sure that in the future we'll have a greater partnership going ahead between IGPL and the Asian Tour," Mundy said.
His comments underline the league's ambition to continue expanding its international footprint while ensuring Indian professionals receive regular opportunities to compete against stronger international fields.
Launched with an ambitious vision for professional golf, the AM Green IGPL has quickly established itself as one of the region's fastest-growing golf properties. The league currently features ten franchises and a calendar comprising 15 tournaments spread across the season. Its unique format combines Indian professionals with international golfers, creating highly competitive fields while also helping domestic players gain exposure to different styles of play.
Beyond India, the league has already expanded its calendar to include international events in Mauritius, South Africa, Congo, and now Morocco, reflecting its commitment to broadening competitive opportunities.
These overseas tournaments have become an important component of the IGPL's strategy, enabling players to experience different golf courses, weather conditions and competitive environments that closely resemble those found on major international tours.
The continuation of the partnership between the AM Green IGPL and the Asian Tour represents another important step in the evolution of Indian professional golf. By combining domestic talent development with international competitive exposure, the collaboration aims to bridge the gap between Indian golf and the world's leading professional circuits.
With more tournaments, stronger fields and clearer pathways for emerging golfers, both organisations hope to create an environment where Indian players can consistently compete and succeed on the global stage.
As the second half of the 2026 season approaches, the strengthened alliance promises to deliver even greater opportunities for golfers while further enhancing the profile of professional golf across India and Asia.
