Archery World Cup 2026 Antalya: Asian Games-Bound Indian Archers Face Key Test in Türkiye

The Archery World Cup 2026 Antalya will provide India's top archers with one of their most important international assignments of the season as all 12 athletes selected for the Asian Games 2026 prepare to compete against the world's best in Türkiye.
Scheduled from June 9 to 14, the third stage of the Archery World Cup circuit represents the penultimate stop before the season-ending World Cup Finals and offers valuable ranking points, medal opportunities and crucial competitive exposure ahead of the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya later this year.
India has sent a 16-member contingent to Antalya, featuring a blend of established stars, emerging talents and experienced campaigners eager to prove a point on the international stage. The tournament carries added significance because every archer selected for India's Asian Games squad is part of the contingent travelling to Türkiye.
With fewer than four months remaining before the continental showpiece in Japan, the Antalya event will provide an ideal opportunity for the Indian team management to assess current form, combinations and medal prospects against elite global competition. A total of 332 recurve and compound archers from 42 countries are expected to compete, making it one of the strongest fields of the season.
For India, the event is not just about winning medals but also about evaluating readiness for one of the most important competitions of the Olympic cycle.
Much of India's medal hopes will once again rest on compound superstar Jyothi Surekha Vennam. The Hangzhou Asian Games medal winner continues to be one of the most consistent compound archers in the world and enters Antalya with confidence after helping India secure women's compound team gold at the season-opening World Cup stage in Puebla, Mexico.
Jyothi will be joined by fellow Asian Games-bound archers Chikitha Taniparthi and Prithika Pradeep in the women's compound team, while Parneet Kaur completes the four-member squad. The men's compound unit also looks formidable. Sahil Jadhav arrives in Antalya after winning an individual bronze medal at the previous World Cup stage in Shanghai, a performance that significantly boosted his international profile.
He will be joined by Asian Games selections Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru and Kushal Dalal, while Rishabh Yadav adds further depth to the squad. With compound archery continuing to be one of India's strongest disciplines internationally, expectations will be high for multiple podium finishes.
The recurve section presents several intriguing narratives. Leading the men's recurve challenge will be Dhiraj Bommadevara, Yashdeep Sanjay Bhoge and Neeraj Chauhan, all of whom have secured their places for the Asian Games. However, significant attention will also be on veteran Olympian Atanu Das.
The experienced archer narrowly missed out on selection for Aichi-Nagoya 2026 and now has an opportunity to make a strong statement against the world's best. Atanu's experience and proven ability to perform under pressure make him one of the most dangerous competitors in the field despite not being part of the Asian Games squad. The women's recurve competition features a similar storyline.
Olympian Deepika Kumari returns to international competition with plenty to prove after failing to secure selection for the Asian Games. One of India's most decorated archers, Deepika remains capable of producing world-class performances and will be motivated to demonstrate that she still belongs among the sport's elite.
She will be joined by Kumkum Mohod, Kirti Sharma and Ankita Bhakat.
The trio enjoyed considerable success at the previous World Cup stage in Shanghai, where Deepika, Kumkum and Ankita combined to win gold in the women's recurve team event, one of India's standout performances of the season.
India enters Antalya with encouraging results from the first two World Cup stages. The season began with women's compound team gold in Puebla through Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Madhura Dhamangaonkar and Pragati. The second stage in Shanghai delivered even greater success, highlighted by the women's recurve team gold and Sahil Jadhav's individual bronze medal.
Those performances demonstrated India's ability to compete consistently against top international opposition and raised expectations ahead of the Antalya leg. A strong showing in Türkiye could significantly improve the chances of Indian archers qualifying for the prestigious World Cup Final later this year.
The Antalya competition is particularly important because World Cup Final qualification remains on the line. The season-ending finale will feature individual winners from each World Cup stage alongside the highest-ranked athletes in the overall standings. With only one stage remaining after Antalya, every match and every ranking point will carry additional importance.
For archers such as Jyothi Surekha, Dhiraj Bommadevara and Deepika Kumari, a deep run in Antalya could strengthen their qualification prospects and provide valuable momentum heading into the final phase of the season.
As the countdown to the Asian Games continues, the Archery World Cup 2026 Antalya offers India a vital opportunity to measure itself against the world's best. The presence of all 12 Asian Games-bound archers ensures that the tournament will serve as a significant indicator of India's medal prospects in Japan later this year.
With proven stars, experienced Olympians and emerging talents all in action, Indian archery fans will be hoping for another successful week on the international stage as the road to Aichi-Nagoya gathers momentum.
