Asian Games 2026: India’s Full September 20 Schedule — Quimcy D’Souza, Shooting, Hockey, Table Tennis and More in Action

India’s campaign at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 enters another packed day on September 20, with athletes competing across shooting, wushu, teqball, table tennis, swimming, hockey, MMA, badminton and cricket.
The day features several important medal opportunities, including the women’s 10m air rifle events in shooting and two bronze-medal matches involving Quimcy D’Souza in teqball. India will also begin or continue its campaigns in several team events, making September 20 one of the busiest days for Indian sport at the Games. The action begins early in the morning and continues until the evening, with Indian athletes scheduled across multiple venues.
Early Morning: Wushu and Shooting Lead the Action
The first Indian athlete in action will be M. Suraj Singh, who competes in the men’s Changquan final in wushu at 5:35 AM IST. Just 40 minutes later, shooting takes centre stage. At 6:15 AM IST, Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Uttam Maskar and Vidarsa will compete in the women’s 10m air rifle qualification. The Indian trio will also be involved in the women’s 10m air rifle team final, scheduled for the same time according to the shared schedule.
The shooting events could provide one of India’s earliest medal opportunities of the day. At 6:30 AM IST, attention shifts to teqball, where Quimcy D’Souza takes on Japan’s Sakamoto in the women’s singles bronze-medal match.
Quimcy has already created history with her run in the women’s singles event, and a victory would give India a medal in teqball at its Asian Games debut.
Quimcy’s day does not end with the singles bronze match. At 7:00 AM IST, she partners Mohamed Anas Baig in the mixed doubles bronze-medal match against Vietnam’s Nguyen/Trinh. That makes the opening part of the day particularly important for Indian teqball, with two potential bronze medals on the line within 30 minutes.
For Quimcy, it is an opportunity to potentially finish the day with two Asian Games medals.
Table Tennis and Swimming Join the Schedule
At 6:30 AM IST, India’s women’s table tennis team faces Indonesia in Group F. The Indian women are competing in a group that also includes Singapore, Pakistan and Indonesia, making every group match important in the race for progression. Swimming begins at 7:22 AM IST, with Benedicton Rohit and Akash Mani competing in the men’s 100m freestyle Heat 5.
Another Indian swimming event follows at 7:37 AM IST, when Rishab Das and Utkarsh Patil compete in the men’s 100m backstroke Heat 3. Meanwhile, Indian hockey fans will be watching at 7:30 AM IST, when the Indian women’s hockey team takes on Uzbekistan in Pool B.
At 8:10 AM IST, Suchika Tariyal takes on Baigalmaa of Mongolia in the women’s 60kg traditional quarterfinal in MMA. The Indian table tennis men then begin their Group F campaign against Indonesia at 9:00 AM IST. The afternoon's cricket action will be particularly significant. At 10:30 AM IST, India faces Bangladesh in the women’s semifinal.
With a place in the final at stake, the contest will be one of India's key team-sport fixtures of the day.
The shooting programme continues at 11:00 AM IST with the women’s 10m air rifle final, subject to qualification. At 11:30 AM IST, India’s men’s hockey team faces Indonesia in Pool B. The same time slot also features India’s women’s badminton team, which begins its knockout campaign against Kazakhstan in the Round of 16.
A victory would potentially set up a quarterfinal against hosts Japan. At 12:30 PM IST, India’s women’s table tennis team faces Singapore in another Group F fixture.
MMA returns at 2:00 PM IST, with Varun Sanyal scheduled to compete against an opponent to be confirmed in the men’s 77kg traditional quarterfinal.
Swimming has two finals listed in the schedule, both subject to qualification. The men’s 100m freestyle final is scheduled for 2:23 PM IST, followed by the men’s 100m backstroke final at 2:43 PM IST. India’s men’s table tennis team then takes on Iran at 3:00 PM IST in Group F.
The final Indian events of the day come in wushu. At 3:10 PM IST, Aparna Dahiya faces Iran’s Sogand in the women’s 52kg Round of 16. Then at 4:50 PM IST, Vikrant Baliyan takes on Iran’s Soheil Mousavi in the men’s 75kg Round of 16. With medal events, knockout fixtures and group matches spread throughout the day, September 20 promises a packed schedule for Indian fans.
