Asian Games 2026: India Sweep Past Bangladesh 3-0 to Reach Badminton Men’s Team Quarterfinals

India made a dominant start to its men’s team badminton campaign at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026, defeating Bangladesh 3-0 in the Round of 16 to book a place in the quarterfinals.

The Indian team produced a comprehensive performance across all three singles matches, with Lakshya Sen, Asian Games debutant Ayush Shetty and veteran Kidambi Srikanth each securing straight-game victories. The clean sweep ensured India advanced to the last eight without dropping a single game.

World-class campaigner Lakshya Sen gave India the ideal start in the opening singles tie, taking on Bangladesh’s Jaman Ayman Ibn. Sen controlled the match from the outset and quickly established a substantial advantage. His attacking game and ability to dictate rallies left Ibn struggling to stay with the Indian shuttler.

Sen eventually completed a comfortable 21-4, 21-12 victory.

Ayush Shetty shines on Asian Games debut

The opening game was considerably more competitive than the first two matches of the tie. Al Amin managed to stay within range for periods, but Srikanth’s experience and control allowed him to establish the decisive advantage. The second game was far more one-sided. Srikanth pulled away from his opponent and closed out the match with a nine-point winning margin. With that, India completed a clean sweep and advanced to the quarterfinals.

For the Indian squad, the Bangladesh match provided an ideal opportunity to settle into the competition. Sen delivered the expected opening win, Shetty announced himself on the Asian Games stage with a confident performance, and Srikanth’s experience ensured the tie was closed without unnecessary complications.
