Asian Games 2026: India Wins Medals as Mixed 4x400m Relay Wins Silver and Four Bronze.

India enjoyed a strong medal-winning day at the Asian Games 2026, with athletes producing podium finishes across athletics, wushu, shooting and rowing, while the women’s kabaddi team also secured a semifinal place and an assured medal.

The day’s medal haul included silver medals for India in the mixed 4x400m relay and women’s 60kg wushu sanda, while Seema Kumari, Parinaaz Dhaliwal-Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Satnam Singh-Salman Khan added bronze medals in athletics, shooting and rowing respectively. Several other Indian athletes also progressed through their respective competitions, including sprinters Animesh Kujur and Gurindervir Singh, who both qualified for the men’s 100m semifinals.

India's mixed 4x400m relay quartet delivered one of the day's standout performances, securing the silver medal after progressing through the heats earlier in the competition. India had qualified for the final after finishing second in Heat 2 and carried that momentum into the medal race. The result gave Indian athletics another podium finish on a day that also saw Seema Kumari win bronze in the women's 10,000m.

Roshibina Devi Takes Wushu Silver

Roshibina Devi added another major medal to India's campaign by winning silver in the women's 60kg Sanda competition. Roshibina's medal continues her remarkable Asian Games record in the discipline. She had previously won bronze in 2018 and silver in 2023, and has now secured another silver medal at Aichi-Nagoya 2026.

Her latest podium finish further strengthens her status as one of India's most consistent performers in Asian Games wushu.

Athletics also produced a historic moment as Seema Kumari won bronze in the women's 10,000m final. Seema clocked 32:50.05, finishing behind Bahrain's Winfred Yavi and Japan's Nozomi Tanaka. Yavi won gold in 32:39.18, while Tanaka took silver in 32:41.54.

Seema's bronze ended India's 16-year wait for a medal in the women's 10,000m at the Asian Games, with the previous medal coming in 2010. The result was also India's first athletics medal of the 2026 Asian Games.

Skeet Duo Adds Another Bronze

India's shooting contingent continued its productive run as Parinaaz Dhaliwal and Anantjeet Singh Naruka won bronze in the mixed team skeet.  The pair qualified for the mixed team medal round before finishing third in the final. Their bronze also marked another successful day for India's skeet shooters, following the men's and women's team bronze medals secured earlier.

Naruka had also finished fourth in the men's individual skeet competition, while Dhaliwal reached the women's individual final.

Satnam Singh and Salman Khan added a bronze medal in the men's double sculls, producing another podium finish for India's rowing contingent. The Indian duo finished third in the final behind China and Uzbekistan. Their bronze was particularly significant as the pair remained in medal contention through the race and secured their place on the podium in the closing stages.

Elsewhere, Balraj Panwar finished fourth in the men's singles sculls final, narrowly missing a medal. India's men's quadruple sculls crew of Arvind Singh, Kulwinder Singh, Navdeep Singh and Jakar Khan finished fifth, while Gurbani Kaur, Aleena Anto, Tendenthoi Haobijam and Poonam finished sixth in the women's four final.

Kabaddi Teams Continue Strong Campaigns

The Indian kabaddi teams also enjoyed a productive day. The women's team defeated Japan 50-25 in their Group A match, securing a place in the semifinals and confirming a medal.

The men's team also completed the group stage with a victory over Chinese Taipei, finishing top of Group A and progressing to the semifinals.

India's men's 100m campaign also delivered positive results. Animesh Kujur finished third in Heat 1, securing qualification for the semifinals, while Gurindervir Singh finished second in Heat 4 to also advance. The two sprinters will now compete in the semifinal stage with a place in the final at stake.

Progress Across Other Sports

There were several other notable performances across the day. In squash, Abhay Singh defeated Sri Lanka's Ravindu Laksiri 3-0, while Veer Chotrani beat Malaysia's Sanjay Jeeva 3-2 in their respective men's singles Round of 16 matches. In women's squash, Anahat Singh and Tanvi Khanna both progressed after defeating Singaporean opponents.

In table tennis, Manush Shah beat Malaysia's Wong Qi Shen 4-0, while Indian women's doubles pairs also advanced through the competition. Artistic gymnast Pranati Nayak finished sixth in women's vault, while Asha Ilango finished fourth and Niharika Vashisht 10th in the women's triple jump. In boxing, Parveen advanced after a walkover, while Sakshi Chaudhary and Sumit Kundu exited their respective competitions.

India's men's hockey team also produced one of the day's emphatic results, defeating South Korea 8-2 in Pool A.

With medals coming across multiple disciplines and several athletes progressing into knockout and semifinal stages, India continued to build momentum across the Asian Games 2026 campaign.
