CWG 2026: Indian Boxers Performance In This Prestigious…

The Indian boxers had a remarkable outing, winning a total of 7 golds and 3 silver medals, which helped the contingent to surge to number 4^th in this event. 

A total of 14 Indian boxers participated, with 7 men and 7 women. Out of the 14 boxers, 7 of them won gold medals, while 3 won silver medals. It was one of the best performances by the boxing contingent in any CWG history. 

The Indian boxers showed domination over their opponents and kept the flag flying high, making sure that surge in the medal tally. 

Here we look at the Indian boxers’ performers in CWG 2026. 

Gold Medallists 

1. Sakshi Chaudhary 

Sakshi Chaudhary took part in the 51 kg weigh category. She received a bye in the round of 32. Sakshi put on a dominating display in the pre-quarterfinals, winning 5-0 against Modukalene of Botswana. The Indian kept putting looked in superb touch right from the word go, hitting punches with ease and winning comfortably. 

She continued her dominating run in the quarterfinals getting past her Northern Ireland opponent Fryers. Sakshi made life tough for her opponent winning the bout 5-0 and entered the semi-finals. The semi-finals bout was another dominating display as she defeated Wall of Canada with 5-0 scoreline. Sakshi played attacking boxing with powerful punches making life tough for the opponent. 

Sakshi showed her domination in the finals too winning against White with 5-0 scoreline. It was a great performance by Sakshi playing attacking boxing hitting punches making life tough for opponent. 

2. Preeti Pawar 

Preeti Pawar got a bye in the round of 32 of 54 Kg category. She produced a dominating performance against Mtejene of Malwi. The match ended with referee stops contest as Preeti hit powerful punches resulted in Pawar moving into the quarterfinals. 

Pawar made a solid impression in the quarterfinals with 5-0 win over Clyde of Northern Ireland. Pawar hit powerful punches keeping Clyde on the backfoot right from the word go. 

The semi-finals saw Pawar produced another dominating performance with 5-0 win over Zambia Mwape to enter the finals. Pawar maintained his dominating performance in the finals against Delgado of Canada. The star Indian boxer won with a 5-0 scoreline to win India’s first gold medal.

3. Jasmine Lamboria 

Jasmine took part in the 57 Kg category. She received a bye in the round of 32 and 16 rounds. She made a solid impression in the quarterfinals getting rid past his England opponent Glynn. Jasmine won with 4-1 scoreline and made into the semi-finals. 

The Indian boxer then faced Maslele of Lesotho. It was a dominating performance by Jasmine as the referee had to stop the contest with flurry of punches. 

The first round was closely fought affair against M Walsh of Northern Ireland. Jasmine won with 3-2 spilt decision. Jasmine showed her domination in the 2^nd round winning with 5-0 scoreline. Walsh tried her best, but the Indian boxer won with 4-1 scoreline as all five judges were impressed with Jasmine to gold medal. 

4. Priya Ghanghas 

Priya received a bye in the round of 32 and round of 16. She started her journey with a dominating 4-1 scoreline over Scotland Mitchell.  Priya defeated England Lucy King Wheatley in the semi-finals. Both boxers won one round each with 4-1 scoreline before the Indian boxer Priya won with a dominating fashion winning by 5-0 to register unanimous win. 

It was a slow start for Priya in the finals against Al Ahmediah of Canada. She looked out of sorts as the Candidan won first round via split decision by 3-2. Priya showed domination in next two rounds winning 4-1 to win historic gold medal. 

5. Arundhati Chaudhary 

Arundhati Chaudhary received a bye in round of 32 and round of 16 during 70 KG category. She started her tournament with 3-1 win over Henderson of New Zealand. It was an impressive performance by Arundhati hitting attacking shots and entered into the SF.

She faced a tough challenge in the semi-finals, facing Eccles of Wales. The first round was a closely fought affair, as Arundhati won with 3-2 split decision. It was a dominating performance by Indian boxer remaining under control and winning by a 5-0 scoreline in the 2^nd round. 

Despite Eccles search for comeback, Arundhati remained in control as she won with 4-0 scoreline in third round to move into the grand finale.  Arundhati put on a dominating display right from the start in the finals against Reid of England. She looked impressive with clear punches keeping Reid on the backfoot winning 5-0 to win India’s fifth gold medal. 

6. Sachin Siwach 

Sachin Siwach took part in the 60 kg category. The first round was a closely fought affair as the Indian boxer edged past his opponent. Sachin continued his impressive run with all 5 judges giving points to the Indian. 

Despite all five judges giving the third round to Al Ahamediah, Sachin won the match by 4-1 via split decision. Sachin had a disappointing start to the first round in the round of 16 against Hewitt of England. Sachin hit wild left hooks, which helped four out of 5 judges give the first round to the Indian. 

Sachin looked impressive in the 2^nd round also with shift in tactics as four of five judges gave 2^nd round to the Indian again. It was a dominating performance by Sachin in the 3^rd round despite point deduction and won the match with 4-1 scoreline. 

Sachin looked in dominating form right from the word go against Moremi of Botswana. He dominated with punches keeping opponent under pressure with 5-0 scoreline to move into the SF. Sachin continued his domination over Harris Allan of Wales in the semi-finals. It was a great performance by the Indian boxer keeping Allan under serious trouble winning with 5-0 scoreline and move into finals. 

It was a remarkable performance by Sachin in the finals against Ndevelo of Namibia. The first two round went to Ndevleo before Indian showed great fighting spirit in the last few seconds with forceful punches to win split decision by 3-2. 

7. Ankush Phangal

Ankush Phangal won India’s 2^nd men’s gold medal in the 80 Kg section. He began his journey with a bye in the round of 32. 

Phangal dominated Jan of Antigua with forceful punches with 5-0 scoreline to move into the quarterfinals. He continued his dominating run thrashing Micock of Seychelles with 5-0 scoreline. Phangal kept pressing with attacking moves and punches making life tough for his opponent. 

It was a great performance by Ankush in the semi-finals against Ofori of Canada. Ankush connected powerful punches as five judges gave first round to the Indian. Despite Ofori coming all guns blazing in round 2, Ankush looked composed connecting punches as all five judges gave 2^nd round to the Indian putting him in a commanding position to enter the finals. Ofori showed his aggression right from the word go in round 3, but Ankush remained under control to win the match by 5-0 and enter the finals. 

Shittu began the first round on an aggressive note putting Ankush under pressure with 5-0 scoreline and knocked down the Indian. Ankush showed great resilience coming back with attacking moves as the Indian won by 3-2 via split decision as Shittu got one point deducted. Shittu got a warning in the 3^rd round also as Ankush took the advantage winning by 4-1 to end gold medal rush. 

Silver Medalists 

1. Jadumani Singh 

Jadumani Singh started his journey in the 55 Kg weight category against Cullen of Scotland. It was a dominating performance by Singh putting the Scottish player in trouble with forceful punches winning with 5-0 scoreline. 

Jadumani put on a dominating display in the round of 16, also winning against Rehman. He looked impressive right from the word go to win with 5-0 scoreline. The Indian took on Mwale of Zambia in the quarterfinals. Mwale put on an attacking display, keeping Jadumani in trouble with forceful punches. Despite Mwale impressive performance, the judges gave the first round to the Indian by 4-1. Jadumani upped his style of play keeping Mwale on the back foot as four judges gave the second round to the Indian. 

The Indian dominated the last round, also putting Mwale under pressure as he moved to SF with a 5-0 scoreline. Jadumani took on Philp Haseob of Namibia in the semi-finals. Philp began the first round with positive shots but the Indian showed his class remaining calm winning with a 5-0 scoreline in the first round. Haseob began the 2^nd round again on a brighter side, but Jadumani showed his domination as all five judges gave it to the Indian. It was a dominating performance for Jadumani in the 3^rd round with a 5-0 scoreline. 

It was a very closely affair as Dixon started brilliantly before Jadumani landed attacking moves as the first round went to the Indian by 3-2 via split decision. Despite Jadumani landing punches, Jye Dixon remained calm to win the 2^nd round by 5-0 scoreline to level scores at 1-1. Jadumani put on spirited performance in dying minutes, but Dixon won by 5-0.

2. Lovlina Borgohain 

Lovlina got by in the round of 32, 16 and quarterfinals. She put on a dominating display in the semi-finals defeating Taafaki making light work of her opponent winning with 5-0 scoreline and moving into the finals.  Lovlina took on Emma Sue Greentree of Australia in the finals. It was a closely fought affair as Greentree maintained attacking moves. Lovlina got a warning for an accidental push with the Australian winning first round by 4-1.

It was a tensed contest as Lovlina fought back strongly in the 2^nd round keeping her gold medal hopes alive. The third round also saw both boxers attacking but the judges gave split decision to Greentree by 4-1 as Lovolina won silver medal. 

3. Narender Berwal

Narender Berwal got a bye in the round of 32 and round of 16 in 90-plus section. He began his journey with split decision of 3-2 against Seko of Samoa.  It was a closely fought affair right from the word go as Narender held his nerves to win and move into the semi-finals. The first round was closely fought affair as four out of 5 judges gave first round to Indian. 

Narender was docked a point as two judges gave 2^nd round to Seko while the other three judges remained equal.  Narender showed tremendous grit and fighting spirit winning the 3^rd round with split 3-2 decision and moving into the semi-finals 

Berwal dominated his Trinidad and Tobago opponent Paul in the semi-finals. Barwal looked impressive, keeping his opponent under pressure winning with 5-0 scoreline to move into the grand finale.  Narender struggled right from the word go in the finals against Damar Thomas of England. It was a disappointing outing for Berwal as he failed to maintain the powerful smashes by Thomas as the Indian lost by 0-5 scoreline. 

Aditya Pratap Yadav and Sumit Kundu got a bye in the first round. Aditya Pratap lost to the Battle of Uganda via a split decision by 2-3. Sumit lost to McConnell of England with a 1-4 scoreline. Kapil Pokhraiya was given a bye in the round of 32 and 16. He lost to McNutty of Scotland by 1-4 during the quarterfinals. In the women’s section, Parveen Hooda was given a bye of round of 32 and 16. She lost via split decision by 2-3 against Hickey of England.
