India’s premier men’s hockey tournament will be broadcast live on Star Sports Select 2 and JioHotstar from October 27 to November 5, with matches scheduled in Jalandhar and Mohali.

Hockey fans across India will be able to follow the men’s Hero Asian Champions Trophy Punjab 2026 through television and digital platforms after Hockey India announced JioStar as the tournament’s official broadcast partner. The ninth edition of the competition will take place from October 27 to November 5, bringing six of Asia’s leading hockey nations together for the continental title.

The tournament will be televised on Star Sports Select 2 and streamed on JioHotstar, giving viewers access to the action across both linear television and digital platforms. The partnership is expected to extend the competition’s reach among Indian audiences as the national team looks to add another title to its impressive record.

The announcement was made in New Delhi on October 26, a day before the tournament begins in Jalandhar.

The broadcast arrangement provides hockey supporters with two ways to follow the competition, whether through television coverage or digital streaming. With matches taking place over ten days, the availability of both platforms will make it easier for fans across the country to keep track of India’s campaign and the performances of its Asian rivals.

Hockey India President Dr Dilip Tirkey welcomed the partnership, highlighting its potential to expand the tournament’s national audience.

“Having JioStar as our official broadcast partner will help take the tournament to a wider audience across the country,” Tirkey said. He added that Hockey India expected fans to tune in to support India and enjoy the best of Asian hockey.

Hockey India Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh also emphasised the importance of accessible coverage in strengthening the sport’s reach.

He said the partnership with JioStar would allow fans to watch matches on Star Sports Select 2 and JioHotstar, wherever they were. He also expressed confidence that hosting Asia’s leading teams in Jalandhar and Mohali would help connect more people with hockey.

The agreement places broadcast access at the centre of the tournament’s presentation, allowing supporters to follow the competition beyond the stadiums hosting the matches.

Six teams compete for the continental title

The men’s Hero Asian Champions Trophy Punjab 2026 will feature India, China, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea and Bangladesh.

India enters the competition with a strong historical record. The Indian men’s team has won the Asian Champions Trophy five times, making it the most successful side in the tournament’s history. Its previous triumphs include the joint title with Pakistan in 2018, when the final in Muscat was abandoned because of rain.

The latest edition offers India an opportunity to extend that record while competing against teams with established standing in Asian hockey.

China, Japan, Malaysia and South Korea will provide the principal international challenges alongside Bangladesh, with all six teams competing for continental honours. The tournament will also give fans the opportunity to follow the different playing styles and tactical approaches represented across Asian men’s hockey.

For India, the objective will be to convert its historical success into another strong campaign on home soil. The broadcast partnership ensures that supporters unable to attend matches in person can still follow the team’s progress.

The tournament will be staged across two venues in Punjab, bringing international hockey to cities with sporting significance. The Olympian Surjit Singh Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar will host all league-stage matches from October 27 to November 2. The schedule will bring international competition back to a city with a rich hockey legacy.

The tournament will then move to the Olympian Balbir Singh Senior International Hockey Stadium in Mohali for the decisive stages. The semi-finals are scheduled for November 4, followed by the medal matches on November 5. The final phase will determine the champions after the six participating teams complete their league-stage fixtures.

The division of matches between Jalandhar and Mohali gives both cities a role in hosting the competition, with the league phase building towards the knockout rounds and the eventual title decider.

The Hero Asian Champions Trophy Punjab 2026 combines a major international competition with an opportunity to expand hockey’s audience in India. The involvement of JioStar as the official broadcast partner provides a national platform for the tournament, while the venues in Punjab bring the sport directly to local supporters.

For Hockey India, the partnership is an important step in making the competition accessible to a broader audience. For fans, it means being able to follow the tournament through Star Sports Select 2 and JioHotstar throughout its October 27-November 5 run.

India’s record five titles will add to the expectations surrounding the hosts’ campaign, but the presence of five other national teams ensures that the contest for continental honours will involve multiple challengers.

With the opening matches beginning on October 27, attention now turns to the hockey on the field. As Jalandhar prepares to host the league stage and Mohali gets ready for the semi-finals and medal matches, the broadcast partnership will allow supporters across India to follow every stage of the tournament.
