Quimcy Dsouza, Mohamed Anas Beg and Declan Gonsalves: India’s Teqball Trio Making Their Mark

India’s growing presence in international Teqball is being driven by a group of athletes who have combined strong domestic records with performances on the global stage. 

Among them, Quimcy Joaquim Dsouza, Mohamed Anas Beg and Declan Marshall Gonsalves have emerged as prominent names, carrying India’s ambitions across singles, doubles and mixed doubles competition.

All three athletes train in Mumbai under coach Nihar Shah, but each has taken a different sporting route before establishing themselves in Teqball. Their backgrounds in athletics, football, futsal and footvolley have helped provide the agility, coordination, movement and tactical awareness required for a sport played on a curved table.

Born on December 19, 2001, Quimcy Joaquim Dsouza has established herself as one of India’s leading female teqball players. A native of Bangalore with her training base in Mumbai, Dsouza competes in Women’s singles and mixed doubles. Her sporting journey began away from Teqball. In 2014, she represented Maharashtra in mid-distance running before moving into under-19 football. That experience gave her a foundation in endurance, agility, quick footwork and tactical awareness, skills that later proved valuable in her transition to Teqball.

Dsouza has since built an impressive record at the national level, winning seven National Gold Medals across three categories — four in Women’s Singles, two in Mixed Doubles and one in Women’s Doubles. Her importance to Indian teqball extends beyond her medal tally. She became the first Indian female athlete to represent the country internationally in Teqball, marking an important milestone in the development of women’s participation in the sport.

On the international circuit, Dsouza has reached a career-high World No. 24 ranking in Women’s Singles and has broken into the Top 6 in Asia. She also finished ninth at the 2026 Teqball World Championships in Romania, adding another significant result to her growing international résumé. Her recent domestic achievements include gold medals in both women's singles and mixed doubles at the 2025 Teqball National Championship, while she won the women's singles title at the 2024 National Championship.

Mohamed Anas Beg: From Futsal to a Historic World Championship Medal

Mumbai-born Mohamed Anas Beg, 26, competes in men's doubles and mixed doubles. Like Dsouza, he has developed his Teqball career from a broader sporting background. Before moving into Teqball, Beg participated in futsal, football and footvolley, sports that helped him develop technical ability, agility and spatial awareness. Those qualities have translated effectively into his Teqball career.

Beg's domestic record is particularly notable. According to his profile, he remained undefeated in national competition from 2021 through 2026, winning six National Gold Medals across the Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles categories. His biggest breakthrough came internationally at the 2024 Teqball World Championships in Vietnam. Competing in Men’s Doubles, Beg won a bronze medal, contributing to what was described as India’s first-ever medal at the World Teqball Championships.

That result established Beg as an important figure in India's emergence on the international teqball circuit. He followed the World Championship medal with further domestic success, winning gold in Men’s Doubles at the 2025 National Championship and two gold medals across Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles at the 2024 National Championship.

Beg is listed at World No. 25, placing him among India's leading international Teqball players.

Declan Gonsalves: Five-Time National Doubles Champion

Another key member of India’s teqball contingent is Declan Marshall Gonsalves, who competes in men's doubles. Born in Mumbai on October 20, 1994, the 31-year-old has been competing in Teqball for approximately five years and has established a remarkable record domestically.

Gonsalves has been the defending national champion in men's doubles for five consecutive years, underlining his sustained dominance in the category. He also won the Men’s Singles National Championship in 2025, adding another national title to his record.

Like Beg, Gonsalves played a key role in India's historic medal at the 2024 Teqball World Championships in Vietnam, winning bronze in Men’s Doubles. As of August 2026, Gonsalves is ranked World No. 23, giving India another player positioned inside the top tier of the international rankings. His combination of national consistency and international experience makes him a significant part of India's men's doubles setup.

The profiles of Dsouza, Beg and Gonsalves highlight the development of Indian teqball through athletes coming from different sporting backgrounds. Their experiences in athletics, football, futsal and footvolley have provided complementary skills that have translated into success on the Teqball table.
