Sathiyan Enters Quarterfinals at WTT Contender Zagreb

Sathiyan had earlier stunned the Seed 2 & WR6 Darko Jorgic from Slovenia in first round

Top ranked TableTennis player Sathiyan Gnanasekaran is showing sublime form at the WTT contender event in Zagreb as he grabs yet another impressive victory.

Playing against a Chinese Yuanyu Chen he scored a straight games comfortable victory 11-9,11-7,12-10.

The match that went for thirty five minutes, sathiyan looked in full control against the 17 year old Chinese. Yuanyu is a former Asian Junior champion and is one to look for in the TT circuit.

He will next face Chuang Chih Yuan from Taiwan. Chuang is currently ranked WR18 with a career high of 3. He has been part of the olympics for five time which is a Taiwanese record. He has four ITTF world tour titles and a SemiFinals appearance in the 2012 olympics.

Earlier in the round one Sathiyan had one of the most famos victories of his career defeating the reigning European champion Jorgic scoring a comeback from behind victory 3-1.

This is Sathiyan’s second win over a player ranked inside top 10 in the world.

Before this, Sathiyan had beaten former World No. 5 Tomakazu Harimoto of Japan during the 2019 Asian Championships.

He is the only Indian entry in the Singles draw of this competition
