Vietnam Open 2026 Quarterfinals: Four Indians In Semi-F…

The Indian shuttlers had a brilliant outing as Ishrani Burah, Santosh Ramraj, Tanvi Sharma and HS Prannoy made it into the semi-finals of the Super 300 Vietnam Open played on 11^th September 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. 

Tanvi Sharma defeated Indian counterpart Malvika Bansod in a three-game thriller that went right down the wire. Bansod showed intent right from the word go putting pressure on Tanvi. It was an impressive by Bansod keeping Tanvi under serious threat with attacking shots keeping the momentum going. At the mid-game break, Bansod took a commanding 11-5 lead. 

After the interval, Tanvi showed great fighting spirit, taking points in succession making life tough Bansod. It was a great performance by Tanvi with aggressive shots, winning the first game by 21-18. The second game saw a much better start for Tanvi keeping Bansod under serious trouble with her attacking shots. At the mid-game break, Bansod had a slender lead. After the break, both players fought for each point before Bansod put on a dominating display keeping Tanvi under serious trouble winning the 2^nd game by 21-15. 

The third game began with both players fighting for each point. Tanvi Sharma upped her style of play keeping Malvika under serious trouble with attacking shots maintaining the momentum winning 3^rd game by 21-14 to move into the semi-finals. She will face the S Vitisdarn of Thailand. 

Ishrani Burah registered her first win over Huang C-p of Chinese Taipei in two straight games. The first game was a very close fight affair as both players fought for each point before Huang took 2-point lead. Burah showed attacking skills keeping Huang under serious trouble with 11-9 lead at the interval. After the break, Huang tried to fight, but Burah held her nerves winning first game by 21-15. 

The second game started with both players fighting for each point before Burah took an 8-4 lead. Huang fought back strongly, keeping Burah under serious trouble. At the mid-game break, Ishrani took a slender 11-9 lead. After the break, Huang tried her best to make a match out of it, but Burah held her nerves to win with 21-18 scoreline and move into the semi-finals. Santosh Ramraj edged past Indian counter-part Mansi Singh in two straight games. It was a dominating performance by Ramraj keeping Mansi under serious trouble right from the word go. Ramraj produced attacking badminton keeping the momentum going making sure that she does not allow any chances for Mansi. 

Ramraj showed her domination by winning the first game by 21-12. The second game was another one-sided performance as Santosh kept the momentum going winning with a comfortable 21-10 scoreline. Santosh Ramraj will face Ishrani Burah in the 2^nd semi-finals of the Vietnam Open 2026 while Burah would look to win against her Thailand opponent and make it All India Finals in the women’s section category. 

HS Prannoy defeated his Indian counterpart S Saraswat in two straight games. The first game was a closely fought affair right from the word go. Both players produce excellent badminton. It ebbed and flowed as both players fought for each point. It was a sensational display, but Prannoy held his nerves to win the first game with 28-26 scoreline. Prannoy looked in sensational form right from the word go during the 2^nd game. It was a dominating display by Prannoy keeping Saraswat under serious trouble. At the mid-game break, the star Indian shuttler took a commanding 11-3 lead. After the interval, Saraswat tried his best, but Prannoy put on a dominating display to win with 21-12 scoreline. 

The third seeded HS Prannoy will face top seeded Jason Teh of Singapore in the semi-finals tomorrow. It promises to be an exciting encounter as both players would be looking to produce stunning badminton and reach the finals. Prannoy reached his first semi-finals this year and would be hoping for a great performance against the top seed Jason Teh of Singapore in much anticipated clash which will be a thrilling contest.

However, it was curtains for the mixed doubles as Annadurai and S Balaji lost to 7^th seeded P Horbanluekit & Korpthammkit of Thailand in two straight games. The Indian pairing struggled right from the word go losing with 12-21, 11-21 scoreline. It was a disappointing outing for Indian pairing.

5. Annadurai/S Balaji lost to P Horbanluekit/Korpthammkit (Mixed Doubles)- 12-21, 11-21.
