Aryan Roopa Anand Eyes Dream Debut at International Series Morocco After Breakthrough Victory in Congo

Indian golfer Aryan Roopa Anand is set for one of the biggest moments of his young professional career as he tees off at the $2 million International Series Morocco in Rabat, just days after claiming his maiden professional title on the AM Green Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) Tour in Congo.
The 25-year-old earned widespread praise after winning the AM Green IGPL event in Lubumbashi and has now been rewarded with an opportunity to compete against some of golf’s biggest names, including Masters champions Bubba Watson and Sergio Garcia, at the prestigious International Series event.
For Aryan, the occasion represents more than just another tournament it is the chance to measure himself against global stars and continue the momentum generated by his breakthrough victory.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Aryan admitted that sharing the field with major champions is a dream come true. Describing the experience as a “fan-kid moment,” the Bengaluru golfer expressed gratitude to the AM Green IGPL and the International Series for extending him the invitation. He also revealed that his preparations have been boosted by practice rounds alongside experienced Indian professionals SSP Chawrasia and Anirban Lahiri, giving him valuable insights into the challenging Royal Golf Dar Es Salam course.
The Red Course in Rabat is regarded as one of Africa’s finest layouts and will test every aspect of a player’s game over four rounds of stroke play.
Aryan’s appearance in Morocco comes on the back of a long-awaited breakthrough in professional golf. Despite enjoying an outstanding amateur career that included back-to-back All India Amateur titles, success on the professional circuit had remained elusive since he turned pro four years ago. There had been numerous close calls and encouraging performances, but converting them into victories proved difficult.
That changed in Lubumbashi.
Producing three excellent rounds and holding his nerve in a playoff against experienced Indian golfer Udayan Mane, Aryan finally lifted his first professional trophy. The victory was the reward for years of persistence and meticulous work behind the scenes. Reflecting on his journey, Aryan credited not only technical improvements but also changes in his overall approach to preparation.
According to him, focusing on process thinking correctly, training effectively and maintaining proper nutrition rather than obsessing over results has been instrumental in his recent success.
Interestingly, this will not be Aryan’s first experience competing in Morocco. He previously featured in both the AM Green IGPL Rising Stars Morocco event and the AM Green IGPL Bharat Classic but failed to make a significant impact, missing the cut in both tournaments. Those disappointments, however, now serve as valuable learning experiences.
Armed with greater confidence following his victory in Congo and carrying improved form into this week’s competition, Aryan will hope to produce a stronger performance against one of the deepest fields he has faced.
Aryan will not be alone in representing India at the International Series Morocco. A total of 10 Indian golfers are part of the 156-player field, highlighting the country’s growing presence on the Asian Tour and International Series. Among the most prominent names are LIV Golf star Anirban Lahiri, veteran SSP Chawrasia, recent standout Karandeep Kochhar, and Gaganjeet Bhullar, India’s most successful player on the Asian Tour with 11 victories.
Other Indian participants include Udayan Mane, Shaurya Bhattacharya, Rashid Khan, Ajeetesh Sandhu, and Shubham Jaglan.
The depth of Indian representation reflects the increasing competitiveness of the nation’s professional golf ecosystem.
Aryan believes his Congo triumph was no accident. He attributes his success to years of adjustments involving swing mechanics, coaching philosophies and mental conditioning.
Working with coaches Jesse Grewal and Sujjan Singh, along with a dedicated support team that includes a psychologist and fitness trainer, he has focused on developing consistency rather than chasing results. That approach paid dividends in Congo, where he felt particularly comfortable on the tree-lined Lubumbashi Golf Course. Strong putting performances over the final two rounds, combined with calm decision-making under pressure, enabled him to post scores of six-under and eight-under and ultimately secure victory.
The confidence gained from handling a playoff situation could prove invaluable in future high-pressure events.
The International Series Morocco represents another important milestone in Aryan’s career. With a prize purse of $2 million, the tournament attracts some of the strongest players competing outside the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, providing young professionals with a chance to test themselves against elite competition.
For Aryan, success this week would further validate his recent progress and potentially open the door to more opportunities on the global stage.
Even beyond results, simply competing alongside major champions and established international stars offers an invaluable learning experience.
Golf careers are often defined by momentum, and Aryan Roopa Anand appears to have found his at just the right time. His maiden professional victory in Congo ended years of frustration and showcased the resilience required to succeed at the highest level. Now, with confidence high and preparation complete, he heads to Rabat eager to make the most of a golden opportunity.
Whether he challenges for the title or gains experience against world-class opposition, Aryan’s journey from breakthrough winner on the AM Green IGPL Tour to competitor on the International Series is another encouraging chapter for Indian golf and one that could mark the beginning of an exciting new phase in his career.
