India's Finest Tee Up at Singapore Open as IGPL Stars Take on Asia's Best in LIV-Backed International Series

When the Singapore Open tees off at the Serapong at Sentosa Golf Club this week, India will have more than just representation in the field it will have a story. Seven Indian golfers, drawn from the growing stable of talent nurtured by the AM Green Indian Golf Premier League, will compete in the US$ 2 million LIV-backed International Series event, bringing with them a compelling blend of legendary experience and hungry emerging talent that makes this one of the more intriguing Indian golfing narratives of the year.
The Singapore Open is the second International Series event of 2026, following last month's tournament in Japan, and forms part of the Asian Tour's expanding calendar of premium events backed by LIV Golf's considerable resources. The Serapong course at Sentosa is one of Asia's most storied tournament venues and for at least one member of India's contingent, it holds a very special place in history.
Jeev Milkha Singh, widely regarded as the greatest professional Indian golfer of all time, won the Singapore Open on this very course back in 2008. His return to Sentosa this week carries a weight of nostalgia and meaning that no other player in the field can quite match. At a stage of his career where victories had become increasingly elusive, Jeev re-announced himself in December by claiming the AM Green IGPL Invitational Colombo ending a long title drought in emphatic fashion. His record speaks for itself: six Asian Tour victories, four Japan Tour wins, and four DP World Tour titles. Singapore, a course where he has already written his name into the history books, will feel like familiar and friendly territory.
Alongside Jeev stands Gaganjeet Bhullar, a player who has quietly built one of the most impressive careers in Asian Tour history. With 11 victories on the tour, the 37-year-old sits third on the all-time Asian Tour winners list a remarkable achievement that places him in rarefied company. Already considered a legend of Indian golf, Bhullar opened the AM Green IGPL Tour 2026 season with a victory in Chandigarh and arrives in Singapore as the most successful IGPL player in the Indian contingent. His game carries the hallmark of someone who has competed at the highest levels for over a decade, including appearances at the Majors, and he will be a genuine contender on a course that rewards precision and course management.
SSP Chawrasia, a six-time Asian Tour winner and two-time Indian Open champion, adds further firepower to the Indian challenge. Four of his victories were co-sanctioned with the DP World Tour, underlining his quality across different competitive environments. Chawrasia's compact, reliable game has served him well across Asia's most demanding courses, and Singapore will suit a player of his temperament.
Shiv Kapur, the 2005 Asian Tour Rookie of the Year, rounds out the experienced trio. With four wins across Asia and Major championship experience to his name, Kapur continues to compete with a hunger that belies the years on tour, and his all-around game makes him competitive on any layout.
Among the younger contingent, Pukhraj Singh Gill the 2025 AM Green IGPL Order of Merit winner will be eager to demonstrate that his domestic dominance translates to the international stage. Sachin Baisoya, fresh from winning the IGPL Invitational Mauritius hosted by Leander Paes, carries considerable momentum into the week, while Karandeep Kochhar, a winner on the ADT Tour in Egypt in 2025 and the IGPL Invitational Dubai in December, adds further depth to an Indian challenge that is far from one-dimensional.
The broader significance of this Indian contingent extends beyond the leaderboard. The AM Green IGPL, backed by the vision of cricket legend Yuvraj Singh and officially approved by the Indian Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, has created a structured professional pathway that is clearly producing players ready to compete on Asia's biggest stages. Three IGPL events have already been held in the 2026 season alone, with Bhullar, Baisoya and Udayan Mane claiming the titles in Chandigarh, Mauritius and Johannesburg respectively.
As the Serapong's lush fairways await, India's seven-man contingent carries both individual ambition and a collective sense of purpose. A nation that has long punched below its weight in professional golf is beginning to find its voice and Singapore is the next stage on which it intends to be heard.
