For India, the tournament is expected to play a key role in evaluating relay combinations ahead of future championships, including the Asian Games and World Championships qualification cycle.

India To Host Next Edition

Beyond the immediate challenge in China, Indian athletics also received a major boost with confirmation that the third edition of the Asian Relays Championships will be held in Chandigarh. The hosting rights were awarded during the recent Asian Athletics Association Council Meeting in Hong Kong.

The decision reflects India's growing stature within Asian athletics and provides another opportunity to showcase the country's ability to host major international events. Hosting the next edition is expected to further accelerate the development of relay events within the country while providing Indian athletes with valuable home advantage in 2028.

India enters the championships with ambitions across multiple relay events. The men's 4x100m team, powered by Gurindervir Singh and Animesh Kujur, will look to challenge Asia's sprinting powerhouses, while the 4x400m squads continue to build on India's long-standing reputation in the one-lap relay events.

The inclusion of mixed relays adds another layer of excitement, with India possessing the depth to be competitive in both disciplines.
