India delivered one of its most dominant performances in recent youth boxing history at the Asian Boxing U15 Championships 2026, finishing with an impressive 27 medals, including 9 gold, 6 silver, and 12 bronze in Tashkent.

The standout feature of the campaign was the exceptional performance of the U-15 girls’ team, which topped the medal standings with a remarkable haul of 7 gold medals, underlining India’s growing strength in women’s boxing at the grassroots level.

India’s U-15 girls were the driving force behind the country’s success, combining technical superiority with tactical maturity across weight categories. Anzee (37kg) and Soniya (40kg) set the tone with dominant 5:0 victories in their respective finals, showcasing clear control and precision. Their performances reflected India’s ability to produce technically sound boxers capable of dictating bouts from start to finish.

Tanvi (43kg) added another gold after forcing an abandonment (ABD) in the opening round, while Hanshika Attri (46kg) secured victory through a second-round referee stoppage contest (RSC), highlighting the physical dominance of Indian boxers in key categories. Sunaina (58kg) and Bhumika (61kg) continued the winning momentum with convincing RSC victories, underlining India’s strength in both mid and higher weight divisions.

Angel (70kg) capped off the girls’ campaign with a composed 4:1 win in the final, ensuring India’s seventh gold in the category. Despite narrowly missing out on gold, Akshita (33kg) and Tannvi (64kg) added valuable silver medals, contributing to a well-rounded performance.

While the girls dominated headlines, the U-15 boys also played a significant role in India’s overall success. Yash Kumar (33kg) delivered a hard-fought performance to secure gold with a narrow 3:2 victory, demonstrating composure in a closely contested bout. Similarly, Mohd Yasser (58kg) clinched gold with another 3:2 win, underlining India’s ability to edge tight contests at the continental level.

These victories highlight an important aspect of India’s boxing development mental resilience. Winning close bouts often separates elite competitors from the rest, and the boys’ performances reflected growing maturity in this regard. In addition to the gold medals, the boys contributed four silver medals through Sastha Vasanth Ashok Kumar (37kg), Samir Bohra (43kg), Sudarsan Vasudeva Chandak (52kg), and Ronak Parag Lokhande (67kg).

Though these boxers fell short in their finals, their progression to the medal rounds indicates depth in India’s talent pool.

India’s final tally of 27 medals is a testament to both quality and consistency across categories. Gold: 9, Silver: 6 & Bronze: 12. The distribution of medals across multiple weight divisions reflects a well-balanced squad rather than reliance on a few standout performers. Such depth is crucial for sustained success at higher levels, as it ensures a steady pipeline of talent transitioning from junior to senior competition.

The success at the U-15 level is a strong indicator of India’s future prospects in boxing. With proper progression through junior and senior pathways, many of these athletes could form the core of India’s boxing teams in upcoming Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and Olympic cycles. India’s performance at the Asian Boxing U15 Championships 2026 is more than just a medal tally it is a statement of intent. The dominance of the U-15 girls, combined with the boys’ contribution, highlights a robust grassroots system that is beginning to deliver consistently at the continental level.

As Indian boxing continues to build depth and quality, performances like these provide a strong foundation for future success on the global stage.

The next step will be converting this junior promise into senior excellence a transition that could define India’s boxing journey in the years ahead.
