India’s Men’s and Women’s Recurve Teams Reach Semifinals at Asian Games 2026

India completed a strong day in the archery team events at the Asian Games 2026, with both the men’s and women’s recurve teams advancing to the semifinals after impressive quarterfinal victories.

The men’s team of Dhiraj Bommadevara, Neeraj Chauhan and Yashdeep Bhoge defeated China 5-1, while the women’s team of Kumkum Mohod, Ankita Bhakat and Kirti produced an even more emphatic 6-0 victory over Chinese Taipei. With the two recurve teams joining India’s compound men’s, women’s and mixed teams in the semifinals, all of India’s archery teams competing on the day progressed to the last four.

The Indian men’s recurve team entered the quarterfinal against China after defeating the Philippines 5-1 in the round of 16. The quarterfinal represented a considerably tougher challenge, but Dhiraj, Neeraj and Yashdeep delivered a composed performance to defeat China 5-1. The victory sends India into the semifinals, where the team will face Iran.

The result adds another important team-event opportunity to Dhiraj Bommadevara’s campaign. Dhiraj had already produced an outstanding individual qualification performance, finishing first with 698 points, while Neeraj Chauhan and Yashdeep Bhoge also contributed to India’s progress through the team competition.

The Indian trio will now prepare for another high-pressure knockout contest against Iran.

The Indian women’s recurve team also produced an emphatic quarterfinal performance. Kumkum Mohod, Ankita Bhakat and Kirti defeated Mongolia 6-0 in the round of 16 before facing Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinal. India once again dominated the contest, completing a 6-0 victory to secure its place in the semifinals.

The result means the Indian women have yet to drop a point in their two knockout matches. The semifinal will provide a significantly tougher test, with China awaiting the Indian trio.

All Six Indian Teams Through to Semifinals

The progress of the two recurve teams completes an excellent day for India's archery teams. Earlier, the men’s and women’s compound teams had reached the semifinals after winning their respective quarterfinals. The compound men's team of Sahil Jadhav, Ganesh Mani Ratnam and Kushal Dalal defeated Bhutan 235-232 after beating the UAE 235-215 in the round of 16.

The women's compound team of Chikitha Taniparthi, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Prithika Pradeep defeated Kazakhstan 233-230 after a 238-223 victory over Mongolia. Both compound teams will face South Korea in their respective semifinals. India's compound mixed team of Sahil Jadhav and Chikitha Taniparthi also progressed to the last four. The pair produced a perfect 160 against Mongolia before defeating Kazakhstan 159-154 in the quarterfinal.

They will face Thailand in the semifinal.

The recurve mixed team of Dhiraj Bommadevara and Kumkum Mohod has also reached the semifinals after defeating the UAE 6-0 and Vietnam 6-0. Their semifinal opponent will be Japan.

The performances of the recurve teams underline the depth India has displayed across the archery competition. Dhiraj, Neeraj and Yashdeep have now progressed through two knockout rounds, while Kumkum, Ankita and Kirti have produced back-to-back clean-sheet victories. The mixed team combinations have also advanced, meaning India has maintained a presence across all the team events that have been contested.
