Kajal Dhochak won her second U20 World Wrestling Championships gold at 76kg in Bratislava, completing a dominant 35-0 campaign without conceding a single point.

Kajal Dhochak has once again underlined why she is one of the most exciting young wrestlers in Indian sport, winning her second U20 World Championships gold medal with a flawless campaign in the women’s 76kg category.

The Indian wrestler completed an extraordinary run in Bratislava, winning all four of her bouts and conceding zero points throughout the tournament. Her combined score across the competition read an emphatic 35-0 as she defeated opponents from Japan, Kazakhstan, the United States and China on her way to the world title.

Kajal’s latest triumph makes her only the second Indian wrestler to win two U20 World Championships gold medals after Antim Panghal. It is also her third age-group world title, having previously won one U17 world gold and now two U20 world crowns.

At just the junior level, Kajal has already established an exceptional record. More importantly, the manner in which she won in Bratislava showed the gulf between her and the competition during this tournament.

Kajal began her campaign with an 8-0 victory over Japan’s Miyu Takayama. She followed that with an even more dominant 14-0 technical superiority win over Elmira Yasin, immediately signalling her intent to make another deep run at the U20 World Championships. By the time the semifinal arrived, Kajal had not allowed her opponents to score a single point.

The American challenge came next.

Kajal faced Piper Fowler of the United States for a place in the final and once again controlled the contest with her powerful upper-body game. She secured a 6-0 victory to reach her second U20 World Championships final and her fourth age-group World Championships final overall. Her physical strength was particularly evident against Fowler, with the Indian repeatedly winning key positions and preventing the American from generating meaningful attacks.

The victory set up a final against China’s Sun Jingru.

It was a familiar matchup for Kajal. She had defeated the Chinese wrestler comfortably at the U20 Asian Championships earlier this year, and she once again proved too strong on the biggest stage.

Kajal dominates Sun Jingru in the final

The final against Sun was expected to be Kajal’s toughest test of the tournament, but the Indian wrestler produced another controlled performance. Kajal defeated Sun 7-0 to claim the women’s 76kg gold medal. The victory completed a perfect 35-0 scoring run across four bouts.

8-0 against Miyu Takayama.

14-0 against Elmira Yasin.

6-0 against Piper Fowler.

7-0 against Sun Jingru.

Four bouts. Four victories. Thirty-five points scored. Zero conceded.

In a sport where a single mistake can change the course of a bout, Kajal’s ability to remain defensively perfect throughout the tournament made her campaign even more impressive. She was aggressive when opportunities presented themselves, physically dominant in close exchanges and composed enough to ensure that none of her opponents found a way onto the scoreboard.

Second U20 world title and third age-group crown

This was not Kajal’s first success on the global stage. She had already won a U20 World Championships title and entered the 2026 edition as an established contender. But defending a world title is often more difficult than winning one for the first time. The expectations are higher. Opponents study previous performances. Every wrestler knows they are facing the defending champion.

Kajal responded by producing one of the most dominant campaigns of the championships. Her second U20 world gold places her in elite company in Indian wrestling history. Only Antim Panghal had previously won two U20 World Championships titles for India. Kajal has now added her name to that list.

Her overall age-group world record is equally remarkable. With one U17 world title and two U20 world titles, she now has three world championship gold medals at the age-group level.

A major prospect in an Olympic weight category

Kajal’s success also carries added significance because the women’s 76 kg division is an Olympic weight category. That means her progress at the junior level will be closely watched as she moves towards senior international competition. Her upper-body strength has been one of the defining features of her wrestling. Against Fowler, it allowed her to control exchanges against a strong American opponent. Against Sun, it helped her maintain superiority in the final.

India’s Kajal and Savita Reach U20 World Wrestling Championships Finals, Two Gold Medals in Sight

The challenges will become tougher as she transitions into senior wrestling, where Olympic medallists and world champions compete regularly. But at the moment, Kajal has done everything expected of a dominant junior athlete. She has won consistently, defeated international opponents from major wrestling nations and shown the ability to control bouts without conceding points.

India’s women’s wrestling campaign also produced another medal, with Savita Dalal winning silver in the 62kg category. Savita reached the final but came up against Japan’s Sakura Onishi, a senior world champion. The Indian lost the gold-medal bout 2-12 and had to settle for silver. Despite the final defeat, reaching the World Championships final and winning silver remains an important result for Savita.

For India, the combination of Kajal’s gold and Savita’s silver added further strength to the country’s age-group wrestling campaign.

However, the headline performance belonged to Kajal. Winning a World Championship is significant. Winning it without conceding a single point is a different level of dominance. Her 35-0 campaign in Bratislava will stand out as one of the strongest performances by an Indian wrestler at the U20 World Championships.

Kajal Dhochak is now a two-time U20 world champion, a three-time age-group world champion and only the second Indian to win two U20 World Championships gold medals. The junior stage has been conquered. The next challenge will be to carry that dominance into senior wrestling, where the competition will be stiffer and the margins smaller.

But after another flawless world title campaign, there is no doubt that Kajal Dhochak has firmly established herself as one of India’s brightest wrestling prospects.
