Indian tennis player Karan Singh continued his impressive 2026 campaign by capturing the men's doubles title at the ITF Men's World Tennis Tour M15 tournament in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. Partnering fellow Indian Atharva Sharma, the top-seeded combination defeated second seeds Nikita Ianin and Egypt's Karim Ibrahim 7-6, 6-4 in the final to secure the championship.

The tournament, which ran from October 26 to November 1, saw the Indian pair negotiate a challenging international draw with consistent performances and composure in crucial moments. Their title-winning run further strengthened Karan's position as one of the Indian players enjoying a productive season on the international professional circuit.

The victory marks Karan's fifth title of 2026 and his third title triumph in the last two months. It also represents his fifth final appearance during that period, highlighting a remarkable spell of consistency across tournaments.

Karan and Atharva entered the tournament as the top seeds and lived up to their billing through a series of composed performances. Their campaign was characterised by tactical discipline, effective net play and the ability to handle pressure during closely contested sets.

The quarterfinal presented their first major test against the international pairing of Switzerland's Lars Aregger and Austria's Niklas Waldner. The Indian duo started confidently, taking the opening set 6-3 before facing a stronger challenge in the second.

With the opposition pushing the match towards a deciding set, Karan and Atharva maintained their composure in the tie-break to close out the contest 6-3, 7-6. Winning in straight sets was important in keeping their campaign on track and ensuring they progressed into the last four without dropping a set.

The semifinal brought a more demanding challenge against the third-seeded Turkish combination of Melih Anavatan and S. Mert Ozdemir. The opening set was closely fought, with neither pairing able to establish a decisive advantage. Karan and Atharva eventually held their nerve in the tie-break to take the set 7-6. Having gained the advantage, the Indian pair played with greater authority in the second set, winning it 6-3 to book their place in the championship match.

Two consecutive victories against seeded international opposition demonstrated the quality and consistency of the top seeds as they moved within one win of the title.

Clinical performance in the championship match

The final against second seeds Nikita Ianin and Karim Ibrahim offered Karan and Atharva their toughest assignment of the tournament on paper. With the home advantage behind Ibrahim and the opposition bringing its own experience into the contest, the Indian pair needed to maintain their concentration throughout. They responded with a disciplined performance, combining effective teamwork with pressure at important moments.

The opening set followed a competitive pattern, with both combinations battling to gain control. Karan and Atharva once again demonstrated their ability to handle tie-break situations, winning the opening set 7-6. That breakthrough proved crucial. Rather than allowing their opponents to regain momentum, the Indian pair maintained their intensity in the second set. Their coordination and ability to apply pressure during key exchanges helped them secure a 6-4 victory.

The 7-6, 6-4 result completed a successful week for the top seeds and confirmed their status as the men's doubles champions in Sharm El Sheikh.

Across their final three matches, Karan and Atharva showed particular resilience in tight situations. They won the second-set tie-break in the quarterfinal, edged the opening-set tie-break in the semifinal and repeated that feat in the final.

The Sharm El Sheikh triumph adds another important achievement to Karan's growing collection of international titles. His fifth title of the year reflects the consistency he has maintained across the professional circuit. More significantly, winning three titles and reaching five finals in the last two months points towards a sustained period of strong performances rather than an isolated tournament success.

His ability to compete successfully in both singles and doubles has also been an important feature of his 2026 campaign. While the latest trophy came in doubles alongside Atharva Sharma, his broader season has included multiple title-winning performances across the two disciplines.

For Atharva, the victory represents a valuable international achievement alongside a partner who has been in excellent form. The combination's understanding and execution under pressure were central to their success against three seeded international pairings in the closing stages of the tournament.

Karan's latest success is also an encouraging outcome for the Roundglass Tennis Academy (RGTA), based in Chandigarh. The academy has continued to establish itself as a developmental platform for Indian tennis players seeking to compete at the international level. Its emphasis on technical development, competitive preparation and overall athlete development has been central to its approach.

For emerging Indian players, opportunities to compete and win on the ITF World Tennis Tour are important steps in building professional careers. Performances such as Karan's in Egypt demonstrate the value of consistent participation and the ability to deliver against international opposition.

With his fifth title of 2026 secured and an impressive run of results over the past two months, Karan Singh will look to carry this momentum into the remainder of the season.

The Sharm El Sheikh title is another significant milestone for the Chandigarh-based player, while the partnership with Atharva Sharma has delivered a championship performance built on consistency, teamwork and composure under pressure.
