Akane Yamaguchi has held her nerve in the decider to defeat Pusarla Venkata Sindhu in the opening singles of the women’s team quarterfinal.
Yamaguchi prevailed 21-23, 21-18, 21-11 after 1 hour and 12 minutes, handing hosts Japan a 1-0 lead over India.

Table Tennis: Sreeja Akula Loses to Orawan Paranang
India have gone 0-1 down against Thailand in the Women’s Team Round of 16.
Orawan Paranang defeated Sreeja Akula 3-2 in a closely contested opener, winning 7-11, 1-11, 11-9, 11-6, 12-10.
India now need to win the remaining matches to keep their quarterfinal hopes alive.

Shooting: 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team Final Format
The 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team final will use a different format from recent editions of the event.
Instead of separate gold-medal and bronze-medal matches, all four qualified teams will shoot simultaneously. The competition will follow a format similar to the individual finals, with periodic eliminations deciding the medal positions.
The final is scheduled to begin at 8:25 AM IST.

Shooting: Parth Mane & Elavenil Valarivan Qualify for Mixed Team Final
Parth Mane and Elavenil Valarivan have once again booked their place in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team final, scoring 634.6 in qualification. Parth contributed 317.4, while Elavenil scored 316.8.
The pair had also qualified for the final at the Hangzhou World Cup, where they finished fourth in a strong field featuring two Chinese pairs and India’s Himanshu Dhillon/Sonam.
China have set the benchmark this time, posting 638.9, a new qualification world record. With the final ahead, the 18-year-old Parth Mane and Elavenil Valarivan will look to challenge the leading pairs.

Pusarla Venkata Sindhu has taken the first game 23-21 against Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi, but the Japanese shuttler has fought back in the second.

Sreeja Akula has raced into a 2-0 lead against Thailand’s Orawan Paranang in the Women’s Team Round of 16. Sreeja won the opening two games 11-7, 11-1, putting India in a commanding position in the opening match of the tie.
India need to win the tie to keep their quarterfinal hopes alive, where North Korea await.

India have finished second in the qualification with 634.6 points, securing a place in the medal match.

Pusarla Venkata Sindhu has won the opening match against Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi in the women’s team quarterfinal.
Sindhu edged Yamaguchi 23-21 in the first game before taking the second 7-5 so far. The match is still ongoing, with India currently leading 1-0 in the tie.
