The Indian challenge ended with Asmitha Chahilha losing to Park Ga Eun of South Korea in two straight games during the semi-finals of the Super 300 Macau Open 2026 played on 20th June.

Asmitha Chahilha lost to Park Ga Eun of South Korea in two straight games. The first game saw both players fighting for each point. None of the them were able to take a commanding lead in the initial stages. Both players took alternate points before Asmitha took a slender 11-10 lead. After the interval, the Indian looked in good touch putting Park under pressure with 15-11 scoreline. Park Ga Eun then showed her skills with lovely shots keeping Asmitha under pressure winning 4 points in succession to level scores at 15-15. 

From 17-17, Park Ga Eun showed her domination taking 4 points in succession to win the first game comfortably at 21-17. Park played lovely badminton keeping the Indian under pressure and winning it easily. 

The second game initially saw both players taking alternate before Park Ga Eun produced a dominating display keeping Asmitha in deep trouble with her attacking shots and brilliant drops. At the mid-game break, Park took a commanding 11-5 lead. 

After the break, Park continued her domination over the Indian with lovely shots and ensuring 21-9 scoreline to move into the finals. It was an impressive outing for Asmitha in the entire tournament reaching her first BWF World Semi-Finals after a gap of 2 years.

Women’s Singles

Asmitha Chahilha- Asmitha Chahilha produce a superb performance by reaching the semi-finals of the Macau Open 2026. She looked the best Indian shuttler in this tournament by winning against Tung C-t by 21-14, 11-6 as Tung retired.

She then defeated Ishika Jaiswal of USA in two straight games by 22-20, 21-15. After this Asmitha got the better of Kim M-s of South Korea with 21-16, 21-18 scoreline to move into the semi-finals. 

Asmitha looked impressive in the semi-finals but struggled to keep the momentum losing against Park Ga Eun of South Korea. Anmol Kharb- Anmol Kharb made it into the quarterfinals with impressive performances. She started her journey with 21-13, 21-16 win over Puspitsairi of Indonesia. 

Kharb then showed her class getting rid of Goh Jin Wei of Malaysia. After being 12-4 ahead in the first game, Goh retired hurt as Kharb entered the quarterfinals. It was a heartbreak for Kharb as she lost to Han QX of China in three games. The Indian won the first game comfortably by 21-16. After this she lost made lots of mistakes losing the next two games with 15-21, 13-21 scoreline to be knocked out. 

The other Indian female shuttlers including Shreyanshi Valishetty, Ishrani Burah, Santosh Ramraj lost in the 2nd round. Shreyanshi Valishetty defeated Indian counter-part Tasnim Mir in three games by 21-18, 19-21, 21-15. She then suffered straight game loss to Kim M-j of South Korea with 16-21, 16-21. 

Ishrani Burah started the tournament with three game win over Hung Y-t by 21-16, 19-21, 21-14. She then suffered loss to Park Ga Eun by 19-21, 21-23. Santosh Ramraj began the tournament with straight game win over Kisona Selvaduray by 21-16, 24-22. After that, she lost to Kim M-s of South Korea by 15-21, 9-21. 

Akarshi Kashyap, S Lele, M Singh lost in the first round respectively. Kashyap suffered loss three games to Kim M-j of South Korea by 17-21, 21-18, 17-21. S Lele also lost in the first round to fourth seeded Han QX of China with 12-21, 15-21 scoreline.

M Singh lost to Lee S-y of South Korea with a disappointing 15-21, 17-21. It was an impressive outing for Asmitha and Anmol Kharb who made the country proud with good performances. 

Men’s Singles 

It was a disappointing outing for the Indian shuttlers in the men’s singles section. Tharun Mannepalli and Raunak Chahuhan lost during the 2nd round. Tharun Mannepalli won his first-round match against Indian counter-part R Sanjeevani by 15-21, 21-17, 21-14. He then put on impressive fight before losing to Dong T Y of China with 22-24, 15-21 scoreline. Raunak Chahuhan began his journey with an impressive three game win over Wu Z-y of Chinese Taipei. Raunak made into the main draw winning two matches in the qualifying round. 

Raunak then went down in straight games to Hu ZA of China by 13-21, 17-21. He looked sharp in the 2nd game, but not enough.  Kiran George disappointing performance continued with straight game loss to RD Richardo of Indonesia. He lost with 18-21, 11-21 scoreline. 

Men’s Doubles 

BR Arigela/VT Gobburu lost to Boon XY and Lwi SH of Malaysia in two straight games. It was a disappointing by Indian pairing losing by 16-21, 12-21 scoreline. 

Women’s Doubles 

Ashwini Bhatt/Shikha Gautam suffered straight game loss to top seeded AC Pratiwi/Ramadhanti by 10-21, 8-21 scoreline. 

VR Nardhana/R Ramaswamy lost to Hiseh Y-e and Teng C-h of Chinese Taipei in two straight games by 10-21, 10-21. 

P Konjbeam and S Mishra went down fighting to 2nd seeded Ong XY and C Ting of Malaysia in three games. The Indian pair won the first game by 22-20 before losing the next two games by 16-21, 12-21. 

Mixed Doubles

Ishan Bhatnagar and S Mishra won their first-round match against C Deveraux/D Toepfer of Germany in two straight games by 21-4, 21-6. They then went down fighting to sixth seeded Huang and Li of China with 21-19, 20-22, 16-21 scoreline.  D Rawat/K Maneesha, R MohanKumar/R Ramaswamy, SR Kanapuram/S Reddy lost in the first round respectively.
