Track Asia Cup 2026: India Add Four More Medals in Bangkok as Cycling Team Continues Strong Run
India’s track cycling team continued its impressive run at the Track Asia Cup 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand, adding four more medals on Day 2 of the competition.
Indian cyclists produced strong performances across team sprint, junior events, keirin and scratch race categories as the squad continued to make its presence felt on the international stage.
The latest haul included two silver and two bronze medals, taking India’s overall medal tally from the competition to seven after the first two days, following the two silver and three bronze medals won on the opening day.
The Track Asia Cup, being held in Bangkok from August 28 to 30, is a UCI Class 1 competition. While some of Asia’s biggest cycling nations do not necessarily send their strongest senior athletes to the event, the competition remains an important international platform for emerging riders and national teams.
For India, the performances in Bangkok have provided valuable competitive exposure while also highlighting the depth developing across both elite and junior categories.
One of India's Day 2 highlights came in the Men’s Elite Team Sprint, where Atharva Patil, Amir Reyaz and Bidyananda Singh combined to win the bronze medal.
The podium finish underlined India's growing strength in sprint events and provided valuable experience for the riders competing against established Asian cycling programmes.
The Indian trio had to maintain speed, coordination and precision throughout the team sprint, where even the smallest error can significantly affect the final time.
Their bronze medal added to India's growing presence on the podium in Bangkok and gave the senior men's team another encouraging result.
India also secured a silver medal in the Men’s Junior Team Sprint, with Aditya Jakhar, Max Singh and Sushil Yumnam combining to finish second. Sushil Yumnam has already enjoyed a successful competition in Bangkok, having won bronze in the Men's Junior Keirin on the opening day. Another significant result came from Thabitha S, who secured the silver medal in the Women’s Junior Keirin. The Tamil Nadu cyclist's performance provided another reason for celebration for Indian cycling supporters and marked an important international achievement for the young rider.
Thabitha had already emerged as one of India's medal winners on the opening day, when she also claimed silver in the Women's Junior Keirin. Her continued success in Bangkok further underlines her potential and growing reputation in junior track cycling.

India's fourth medal of the day came through Constable Khoiram Rejiya Devi, who secured bronze in the Women's Elite Scratch Race. Representing the BSF Central Cycling Team, Rejiya Devi delivered a determined performance to finish on the podium in an international competition.
Her medal adds another significant achievement to the growing contribution of services-based athletes to Indian cycling. The scratch race demands tactical awareness as well as endurance, requiring riders to manage their effort while remaining alert to attacks and changes in the pace of the race.
Rejiya Devi's bronze therefore represents an important result for both the athlete and the Indian contingent.
India's medal tally now stands at seven medals after the first two days of competition, with three silver medals and four bronze medals overall based on the results provided. The opening day had already produced five medals for India.
Dinesh Kumar won bronze in the Men's Individual Pursuit, while Anjali Jakhar claimed silver in the Women's Junior Individual Pursuit. Sushil Yumnam added bronze in the Men's Junior Keirin, Thabitha S won silver in the Women's Junior Keirin and Khoiram Rejiya Devi secured bronze in the Women's Elite Scratch Race.
