Great Britain's Charlie Mason (71.43m), Germany's Mogens Braun (69.45m), and several other talented throwers will also be aiming to reach the final. The narrow margins separating many of the competitors suggest that consistency on the day will be just as important as previous performances.

Busy Opening Day for India

India's campaign extends well beyond the javelin runway. A total of five athletes and one relay team will represent the country across four events during the opening day's schedule. The action begins with Ashish Yadav in the men's javelin qualification before attention shifts to the mixed 4x400m relay, where the Indian U20 team will compete in Heat 1.
