Assetz Partners with Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy to Strengthen India's Tennis Development Pathway

Indian tennis received a significant boost with Bengaluru-based real estate developer Assetz announcing a five-year partnership with the Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy (RBTA), one of the country's leading high-performance tennis development centres.
The collaboration aims to strengthen India's tennis ecosystem by supporting infrastructure development, athlete training and long-term talent identification. As an Associate Partner of RBTA, Assetz will contribute towards expanding the academy's high-performance programmes while also exploring initiatives to make structured tennis training more accessible to aspiring players across the country.
The partnership reflects a growing trend of corporate organisations investing beyond sponsorships and instead contributing to the long-term development of Indian sport through grassroots and elite performance programmes.
The partnership is centred around creating a sustainable pathway for young Indian tennis players to progress from grassroots programmes to the highest levels of international competition. Rather than focusing solely on elite athletes, the collaboration seeks to strengthen every stage of player development by investing in the systems that support future champions. RBTA has established itself as one of India's most comprehensive tennis academies by offering structured programmes across multiple age groups and performance levels.
With more than a decade of experience in player development, the academy has trained over 700 players through more than ten specialised programmes catering to beginners, intermediate players, junior professionals and elite athletes. The academy's philosophy extends beyond technical coaching by integrating sports science, physiotherapy, nutrition, strength and conditioning, mental training and competition planning into a unified development model.
Such an approach reflects the standards followed by leading tennis academies around the world.
Founded by Indian tennis legend Rohan Bopanna, the academy was established with the objective of creating an environment capable of producing world-class players. Bopanna, a former World No. 1 doubles player and two-time Grand Slam champion, has consistently emphasised the importance of structured long-term development rather than relying solely on natural talent.
The academy brings together experienced national and international coaches while offering athletes access to modern performance support systems under one roof. Operating from the Centre for Sports Excellence in Bengaluru, RBTA has gradually become one of India's leading destinations for aspiring tennis players seeking professional training.
The addition of Assetz as a long-term partner is expected to strengthen that vision further by providing greater support for infrastructure and developmental programmes.
For Assetz, the collaboration represents an extension of its broader philosophy of promoting healthier and more active lifestyles through thoughtfully designed communities. The company has consistently integrated sports facilities, fitness infrastructure and recreational spaces across its residential developments, viewing sport as an essential component of everyday life rather than an optional amenity.
Supporting RBTA enables Assetz to contribute beyond real estate by participating directly in the development of Indian sport. The partnership also reflects a wider corporate responsibility towards nurturing young athletes and creating opportunities for future generations.
Speaking about the collaboration, Assetz Executive Director Sunil Pareek highlighted the academy's role in supporting talented players.
"RBTA has already been doing meaningful work in identifying and supporting talented young players who may not otherwise have access to this level of training and mentorship. Assetz association is intended to strengthen that journey and give the Academy greater support as it continues to build a high-performance pathway for Indian tennis talent."
He also emphasised the broader value of sport in shaping young individuals.
"At Assetz, we have always believed that sport has the power to shape discipline, confidence and character, especially among young people."
One of the key areas under discussion between the two organisations involves increasing access to structured tennis training. While India has produced several successful tennis players over the years, access to professional coaching and high-performance facilities remains limited for many aspiring athletes. By working together, Assetz and RBTA hope to create initiatives that reduce those barriers while strengthening India's overall tennis development system.
Improved access to quality coaching, sports science and competition planning could help identify talented players earlier and provide them with the resources needed to succeed. Such initiatives become increasingly important as Indian tennis seeks to develop a stronger pipeline of players capable of competing consistently at the highest international level.
Rohan Bopanna believes sustained success in international tennis requires far more than individual talent. Welcoming Assetz as an Associate Partner, he stressed the importance of building a complete support ecosystem around young athletes.
"We are delighted to welcome Assetz as an Associate Partner of the Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy. Building world-class players requires more than talent. It requires a long-term ecosystem of coaching, sports science, competition and committed partners who believe in the journey."
Looking ahead, he expressed optimism about the impact of the partnership.
"We're excited to work with Assetz to strengthen that ecosystem, expand opportunities for young athletes and help create a sustainable pathway for Indian tennis to compete consistently on the world stage."
His comments underline a philosophy increasingly embraced by successful sporting nations, where athlete development is supported by integrated systems rather than isolated coaching programmes.
India has a rich history in tennis, producing Grand Slam champions, Davis Cup finalists and internationally recognised doubles specialists. However, creating a steady pipeline of players capable of succeeding on the ATP and WTA Tours remains one of the sport's biggest challenges. Partnerships such as this offer an encouraging model by combining private investment with sporting expertise to strengthen long-term player development.
For RBTA, the collaboration provides additional resources to expand its programmes and enhance its infrastructure. For Assetz, it represents an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to Indian sport beyond conventional sponsorship. More importantly, for young Indian tennis players, the partnership promises improved access to world-class training environments that can help transform potential into international success.
As Indian tennis looks towards the future, initiatives focused on building sustainable high-performance ecosystems may prove just as valuable as success on the court. The five-year collaboration between Assetz and the Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy is a step in that direction, reinforcing the belief that developing champions begins with investing in the systems that support them.
