Indian tennis enjoyed a productive week on the ITF circuit, with Vaishnavi Adkar finishing runner-up at the W35 Monastir tournament in Tunisia and Karan Singh reaching the final of the M25 Solapur event.

While both singles campaigns ended in defeat, India secured a title in Solapur through Dhakshineswar Suresh and Manish Sureshkumar, who won the men’s doubles championship. The results offered a mix of encouraging individual performances and silverware for Indian tennis. Adkar reached her third singles final of the year, Singh continued his strong run on the professional circuit, and the doubles triumph ensured that the week ended with a title for India.

Adkar, ranked 366 in the WTA rankings and seeded fifth at the W35 Monastir tournament, finished runner-up after losing to sixth seed Elena Milovanovic of Serbia, ranked 425, in the final. Milovanovic won 6-3, 7-5 to claim the title.

The result ended an encouraging week for Adkar, who had progressed through the draw with several convincing performances before reaching the championship match. The Indian struggled to establish control in the opening set against Milovanovic, eventually going down 3-6. She responded in the second set, making the contest more competitive, but could not force a deciding set as the Serbian closed out the match 7-5.

Although Adkar fell short of the title, reaching the final marked her third singles final of the year and continued a productive period on the ITF circuit. Her run to the championship match also included a dominant quarterfinal performance against Russia’s Ekaterina Tupitsyna, ranked 551. Adkar won 6-1, 6-0, conceding just one game in a comprehensive victory.

She had earlier defeated American Sofia Camila Rojas, ranked 692, to progress through the draw. The quarterfinal result was particularly emphatic, with Adkar controlling the match from the outset and leaving Tupitsyna little opportunity to mount a challenge.

The Monastir campaign was also notable for Adkar reaching her fourth semifinal of 2026 before advancing to the final. Despite the disappointment of the loss to Milovanovic, the week provided further evidence of her ability to progress deep into professional tournaments.

Karan Singh continues strong run in Solapur

In India, Karan Singh finished runner-up at the M25 Solapur tournament after a three-set defeat to Samir Banerjee in the final. Singh, ranked 452, lost 6-2, 4-6, 6-7(4) against the American, ranked 564. Singh made an impressive start, taking the opening set 6-2 and putting himself in a strong position to challenge for the title. Banerjee responded by winning the second set 6-4, forcing a decider that remained closely contested until the tiebreak.

The final set eventually went Banerjee’s way, with the American prevailing 7-4 in the tiebreak to complete the comeback. For Singh, the defeat was a missed opportunity to claim an M25 singles title, which would have been the biggest ITF singles championship of his career. Nevertheless, reaching the final continued a strong stretch of performances.

The Solapur appearance was Singh’s fourth final in his last five events. His recent results have included two M15 singles titles in Bali, an M25 final in Sharm El Sheikh and an M15 semifinal at the same venue.

That sequence of results represents a notable return to form after a difficult period between June and August. Although the Solapur final ended in disappointment, Singh’s repeated appearances in the latter stages of tournaments underline his growing consistency. The next challenge will be to convert that consistency into a title at the M25 level and build on the momentum generated by his recent results.

While the singles finalists fell short at the final hurdle, India had a reason to celebrate in the men’s doubles at Solapur. Dhakshineswar Suresh and Manish Sureshkumar won the ITF M25 Solapur doubles title, providing the week’s championship success for Indian tennis.

Their victory ensured that the home event produced an Indian title despite Singh’s defeat in the singles final. Doubles success is an important part of the professional circuit, offering players opportunities to develop match experience, strengthen partnerships and compete for ITF titles. The championship also added a positive conclusion to a week in which Indian players made their presence felt across tournaments in different countries.

The results from Monastir and Solapur highlighted the breadth of Indian participation on the ITF circuit. Adkar reached her third singles final of the year, Singh made his fourth final appearance in five events, and Suresh and Sureshkumar captured the men’s doubles title.

The two singles runners-up will be disappointed not to have finished with trophies, particularly after putting together strong tournament runs. However, their performances offer encouragement as they continue to pursue further success on the professional circuit.

For Adkar, the focus will be on carrying her Monastir form into upcoming events. Singh will look to turn his run of deep tournament finishes into another singles title, while the doubles victory gives Suresh and Sureshkumar a significant result to build on.

Together, the performances made it a positive week for Indian tennis, combining consistent singles results with a championship triumph in doubles.
