Dhakshineswar Suresh Takes on Former Top-100 Star Liam Broady in Brownsburg Challenger Opener
Indian tennis prospect Dhakshineswar Suresh will face one of the biggest tests of his young professional career when he takes on former World No. 93 Liam Broady in the opening round of the ATP 75 Brownsburg Challenger in the United States on Tuesday night.
Suresh, currently ranked No. 393 in the ATP singles rankings, has earned his place in the main draw through qualifying and will now face the No. 199-ranked Broady in a match scheduled for around 11 PM IST.
The match represents a significant opportunity for Suresh, who has already shown considerable resilience during qualifying. A victory over Broady would give the Indian another notable result on the Challenger circuit and provide further evidence of his progress after his transition from the US college tennis system.
Suresh entered the Brownsburg Challenger qualifying draw as the sixth seed and made an immediate impression. Liam Broady enters the contest with considerably more experience at the professional level. The British left-hander reached a career-high ranking of World No. 93 in September 2023, breaking into the ATP Top 100 after several years of competing at Challenger and ATP level. However, Broady's current ranking of No. 199 means the gap between the two players is not as substantial as the difference in their career trajectories might suggest.

Tuesday's encounter will be the first professional meeting between the two players. That makes the tactical battle particularly interesting.
Suresh will need to make the most of his serve and aggressive baseline game while ensuring that he does not allow Broady to dictate rallies with his experience and left-handed patterns. The Indian's performance against Kim will provide confidence. He demonstrated the ability to remain calm during pressure points and win important tiebreak moments, qualities that could prove crucial against a player of Broady's calibre.
For Broady, the challenge will be to prevent Suresh from settling into the match. Having come through two qualifying rounds, the Indian already has competitive rhythm on the Brownsburg courts and will enter the main draw with confidence.
