India has formally expressed its interest in hosting the 2038 Asian Games, marking another significant step in the country’s expanding ambitions to stage major multi-sport events.

India’s bid, however, will face competition. South Korea and Mongolia have also expressed interest in hosting the 2038 Asian Games, setting up a multi-nation contest. South Korea, with its experience in hosting large-scale sporting events, including the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon and the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, presents a strong case. Mongolia, on the other hand, represents an emerging candidate, looking to establish itself on the continental sporting map.

The country has previously hosted the Asian Games twice—first in 1951 in New Delhi, which marked the inaugural edition of the continental competition, and later in 1982, also in the capital.
