Kerala Blasters FC and Mumbai City FC played out a 0-0 ISL draw in Kochi, with Amrinder Singh making crucial saves and Akash Mishra hitting the woodwork.

Amrinder Singh produced crucial saves, Akash Mishra struck the woodwork, and Mohammed Sanan came agonisingly close as Kerala Blasters FC and Mumbai City FC shared the points in a fiercely contested ISL encounter.

Kerala Blasters FC and Mumbai City FC played out a 0-0 draw at a sold-out Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Sunday, October 25, 2026, in the MG Indian Super League (ISL) 2026-27. Despite several promising opportunities at both ends, neither side managed to find the breakthrough in an entertaining contest that featured important saves, a strike against the woodwork and late attacking pressure.

Kerala Blasters entered the match looking to recover from a 4-1 defeat to NorthEast United FC, while Mumbai City arrived after a 1-1 draw against Punjab FC. Both teams showed an early desire to attack, producing an end-to-end contest in which the goalkeepers played decisive roles.

The hosts created the first clear opportunity in the 11th minute, with Mohammed Sanan troubling Mumbai City’s defence through a series of dangerous crosses. One delivery found Hormipam Ruivah amid a scramble inside the six-yard box, but his effort struck the side netting.

Kerala Blasters continued to press high and looked to make their possession count. Mumbai City initially struggled to connect passes and build attacks in the final third, but the visitors gradually settled into the contest and began to find their rhythm.

The Islanders came close to scoring their first open-play goal of the season in the 23rd minute. Muhammed Ajsal showed strength and control to bring Carlos Delgado’s lobbed pass under control before driving into the penalty area. He then delivered a cross from deep towards PN Noufal, who was positioned inside the six-yard box.

Noufal struck firmly with his right foot, but Kerala Blasters goalkeeper Amrinder Singh reacted sharply to produce an excellent reflex save. The intervention denied Mumbai City a promising opening and kept the score level.

Mumbai City made their first substitution in the 39th minute, introducing Lalnuntluanga Bawitlung for Leandro Otormin as the visitors looked to find greater attacking momentum.

Kerala Blasters nearly broke the deadlock in first-half stoppage time. In the 45+2 minute, Sanan beat his marker with a stepover before sending a left-footed effort across goal. The shot narrowly missed the target, leaving the hosts frustrated as the first half ended without a goal.

Akash Mishra Hits the Woodwork

Both teams returned after the interval determined to find a winner. Kerala Blasters made an immediate change, bringing on Sreekuttan M S for Korou Singh Thingujam at the start of the second half. Mumbai City came close to taking the lead six minutes after the restart. Valpuia’s free-kick forced Amrinder to rush off his line and clear the danger. However, the clearance fell to Akash Mishra, whose header struck the woodwork.

It was a significant escape for Kerala Blasters, with Mumbai City coming within inches of breaking the deadlock. The rebound and subsequent attacking sequence underlined the visitors’ growing threat from set-piece situations.

Kerala Blasters responded with a double substitution in the 60th minute, replacing Sanan and Momo Yansane with Ebindas Yesudasan and Andre Green. The changes brought fresh options to the hosts’ attack as they attempted to turn their pressure into a goal.

Mumbai City remained dangerous on the counter. In the 71st minute, Noufal ran across the wing before attempting a right-footed shot from distance. Amrinder saved the effort, and the rebound fell to Ajsal, who sent the ball over the crossbar.

Amrinder’s interventions continued to prove important, preventing Mumbai City from capitalising on their opportunities and keeping Kerala Blasters in the contest.

Late Pressure Fails to Produce a Winner

As the match entered its closing stages, Kerala Blasters increased their attacking pressure, repeatedly sending crosses into the penalty area in search of a decisive touch. However, Mumbai City’s defence held firm and denied the hosts a clear route to goal.

Mumbai City introduced Hridaya Jain for Ajsal in the 85th minute. Kerala Blasters brought on Vibin Mohanan for Adrian Luna during stoppage time, while the visitors made a further double substitution, with Supratim Das and Yuvraj Kadam replacing Valpuia and Farukh Choudhary.

The late changes did little to alter the scoreline. Kerala Blasters continued to deliver balls into the box, but Mumbai City remained organised defensively and saw out the remaining minutes. The final whistle confirmed a goalless draw, with both teams taking a point from a match in which opportunities were available but finishing proved elusive.

For Kerala Blasters, the result offered a response after their heavy defeat to NorthEast United, although the hosts will rue their inability to convert their attacking pressure into a goal. Sanan’s late first-half effort and the chances created from crosses highlighted their attacking intent.

Mumbai City, meanwhile, had opportunities to secure all three points, particularly through Noufal and Mishra. Amrinder’s reflex save and Mishra’s effort against the woodwork were among the defining moments of the match.

Ultimately, neither side could find the finishing touch in Kochi. The 0-0 result reflected a contest in which both teams created chances, both goalkeepers made important contributions, and the defences held firm when under pressure.
