

Macau Open 2026 Day 2: Good Day For Indian Shuttlers

The Indian shuttlers made a mark as most of them entered into round 2 of the Super 300 Macau Open 2026 played on 17th June.

Santosh Ramraj started the day off with a two straight game win over Kisona Selvaduray of Malaysia. It was an impressive performance in the first game by Ramraj keeping Selvaduray under pressure with smashes. At the mid-game interval, the Indian led 11-7. Despite Selvaduray fightback, Ramraj won first game comfortably by 21-12.
It was an ideal start for Selvaduray in the 2nd game putting Ramraj under pressure with smashes. Ramraj showed fighting spirit after initial struggle before Selvaduray again took 3 points at 10-7. Ramraj took 4 points in succession to take a slender 11-10 lead at the break. After the interval, both players fought for each point before Ramraj held onto her nerves to win by 24-22. She will face qualifier 3 Kim G-s of South Korea.
Asmitha Chaliha produced a dominating performance with two straight game win over C Tung of Chinese Taipei. It was great effort by Chaliha keeping momentum right from the word go putting enough pressure on Tung. Asmitha won the first game comfortably 21-14. Chaliha continued his dominating performance in the 2nd game also with attacking shots keeping Tung under pressure. With scoreboard reading 11-6 for Chaliha, Tung retired hurt due to an injury. She will now face I Jaiswal of USA.
The 8th seeded Anmol Kharab showed her class winning against Puspitsairi of Indonesia in two straight games. It was a dominating performance by Kharb in the first game keeping the Indonesian under pressure winning by 21-13. It was a much-better 2nd game as both players took alternate points before Kharb took a slender 11-10. After the break, it was an impressive performance by Kharb winning by 21-16. She will now face Goh J W of Malaysia.
Ishrani Burah showed great courage and fightback to win against Y Huang of Chinese Taipei in three games. The first game saw Burah showing domination over her opponent keeping her under pressure making life tough. Burah won the first game by 21-16. The second game saw a closely fought affair as both players fought for each point. Burah looked good to win in straight games, but Huang showed her class to win 2nd game by 21-19.
It was a closely fought affair in the 3rd and deciding game as both players took alternate points. At the mid-game break, Burah took a slender 11-10 lead. After the interval, the young Indian shuttler held her nerves to win by 21-14 and move into 2nd round. She will face Park G-e of South Korea. Shreya Lele went down fighting to 4th seeded QX of China in two straight games. It was a disappointing performance by Lele as she struggled during the 1st game. The second game was a much-better effort by Lele, but it was not enough as Han won with ease. M Singh lost to pre-qualifier Lee- S Y of South Korea in two straight games. Singh struggled in the first game before producing stunning comeback to level the scores at 6-6. Despite her performance, Singh lost the first game by 15-21.
The second game was closely fought affair as both players fought for each point, but Singh could not convert as she lost comfortably by 17-21. Shreyanshi Valishetty defeated Tasnim Mir in three game thriller. Valishetty showed her class in the first game leading most of the times before Mir fought back strongly. Valishetty held her nerves to win by 21-18.
The second game was a closely fought affair as both players looked sharp taking alternate points. It ebbed and flowed, but this Mir held her nerves to win by 21-19. Valishetty produced a dominating performance in the third game not allowing any chances to Mir. Valishetty won by 21-15 to move into 2nd round. She will face Kim M-j of South Korea.
However, it was curtains for Akarshi Kashyap losing to Kim M-j of South Korea in three games. Kashyap and Kim were involved in tough fight keeping momentum before Kim won the first game by 21-17.The second game saw Kim showing class keeping Kashyap under immense pressure in the initial stages. Kashyap fought back strongly to win the 2nd game by 21-18.
It was a closely fought affair in the initial stages of third game before Kashyap had a 11-8 lead at the break. After the interval, Kim showed her class to win comfortably by 21-17. In the men’s singles section, Raunak Chahuan defeated another qualifier Wu, Zhe Ying of Chinese Taipei in three games. It was a mouth-watering clash right down the wire as both players took alternate points before Wu won the first game by 21-18.
Raunak and Wu fought for each point in the 2nd game keeping momentum going before Raunak showed class to win 2nd game by 21-15. The third game was a closely fought affair as both players fought for each point before Raunak held his nerves to win by 21-19 to move into round 2. He will face Hu ZA of China.
Tharun Mannepalli showed tremendous courage as he defeated Indian counterpart R Sanjeevani. Sanjeevani produced a dominating performance in the first game keeping Mannepalli under pressure to win by 21-15. Tharun put on a dominating display in the 2nd game keeping Sanjeevani under pressure winning by 21-17. He never looked back during the decider winning with 21-14 scoreline. He will face Dong TY of China. Kiran George went down in two straight games to RD Richardo of Indonesia. The first game saw George in initial stages, but fought back strongly to level scores at 16-16. Richardo produced a dominating performance to win by 21-18. Richardo looked in sublime touch during the 2nd game winning with 21-11 scoreline.
The mixed doubles pairing of Ishaan Bhatnagar and S Mishra produce a dominating performance to defeat Devereux/D Toepfer in two straight games. Indian pairing won with 21-4, 21-6 scoreline. She will face sixth seeded Li HY and Huang KX of China.
M and J Jaglan lost to Malaysian pair of Low HC and Chan WT in two straight games by 12-21, 9-21. D Rawat and K Maneesha went down fighting to South Korean pair of Cho S-h and Jeong N-e. The Indian pairing looked to take the first game away before Cho and Jeong showed their domination winning by 24-22. It was a closely fought affair in the 2nd game before South Korean pair won with 21-18 scoreline.
R Mohan Kumar/R Ramaswamy lost to 4th seeded Zhu YJ and Li Q in two straight games by 9-21, 11-21.
