

Australian Open 2026 QF: PV Sindhu Sails Through Semi-Finals, Others Knocked Out

PV Sindhu stormed into the semi-finals of the Australian Open 2026 with a straight-games win over Chen Su Yu, while Tanvi Sharma and the men's doubles pair of MR Arjun and Amsakarunan bowed out in the quarter-finals.
PV Sindhu remains the sole contender as she progressed into the semi-finals, while Tanvi Sharma, MR Arjun & Amsakarunan knocked out of Super 500 Australian Open tournament played at Sydney on 12th June 2026.
PV Sindhu produced a dominating performance over Chen Su Yu of Chinese Taipei in two straight games. Sindhu looked in sharp touch putting pressure on Chen with lovely attacking shots not allowing any chances. At the mid-game break, the star Indian shuttler Sindhu had a commanding 11-5 lead. After the interval, Sindhu maintained her dominance over Su with aggressive strokes winning first game comfortably by 21-6.
The second game also saw Sindhu maintained her aggressive style of play putting Chen under pressure. She upped her shots making life tough for her opponent. At the mid-game break, Sindhu led 11-3. After the interval, it was one-way traffic as Sindhu looked in complete control winning with 21-5 scoreline to move into SF. She will face number 1 seed Akane Yamaguchi of Japan.
Tanvi Sharma dream run ended as she suffered straight game loss to number 1 seed Akane Yamaguchi of Japan. Tanvi showed some spark, but committed lots of unforced errors at the net and could not match the speed of Yamaguchi. At the mid-game break, Yamaguchi led 11-8. After the interval, the 17-year Tanvi tried to fightback before Yamaguchi won with 21-14 scoreline.
Tanvi put on spirited performance in the initial stages of the 2nd game, but Yamaguchi produced some lovely shots keeping the youngster under pressure. At the mid-game break, Yamaguchi had a commanding 11-5 lead. After the interval, Tanvi took points, but it was not enough as Yamaguchi won with same scoreline of 21-14 to move into the SF.
MR Arjun and Amsakarunan retired hurt with the scoreboard 9-16 in the 2nd game. The Indian pairing lost the first game by 19-21. Indian pairing began well initially but Chen and Liu fought back strongly. At the mid-game break, Chinese Taipei pair had a 11-10 lead. Despite some fight in the later stages, Chen and Liu won by 21-19.
Chen and Liu put on a dominating display in the 2nd game right from the start keeping Indian pairing under pressure. Chinese Taipei pair took a 11-7 lead at the break. After the interval, Arjun and Amsakarunan struggled before retiring hurt.
