The Indian shuttlers had a productive outing as 4 made it to the quarterfinals of the Super 300 Taipei Open 2026, played in Taipei on 30th July.
Kiran George defeated Indian counterpart Tharun Mannepalli in two straight games. George looked in sublime touch right from the word 'go', putting pressure on Tharun. At the mid-game break, George had a commanding lead. After the interval, George continued his dominating run, keeping Mannepalli in deep trouble, winning the first game by 21-15.
The second game saw George maintain his aggressive style of play, keeping Tharun Mannepalli in deep trouble. Despite some fighting by Tharun, George maintained his momentum, winning the 2nd game comfortably with a 21-16 scoreline. He will face 4th-seeded Y. Okimoto of Japan.
However, it was curtains for HS Prannoy as he lost to Jason Gunawan of Hong Kong in two straight games. The first game saw the Indian team struggling big-time, committing unforced errors. Prannoy lost the first game by a 9-21 scoreline.
The second game was a closely fought affair in the initial stages before Prannoy upped his game, keeping Gunawan under some trouble. At the mid-game break, the Indian had a commanding 11-8 lead. After the interval, Gunawan upped his game, taking 4 points in succession to put pressure on the Indian. It was a closely fought affair, as both players fought for each point before Gunawan won with a 21-19 scoreline to move into the quarterfinals.
Tanvi Sharma got past her Indonesian opponent Wiryawan in two straight games. Both players started the initial stages of the first game on equal footing before Tanvi upped her game, keeping Wiryawan under trouble at 8-5. Wiryawan took 5 points in succession to keep Tanvi in trouble. It was a closely fought affair, as the Indonesians had a 11-9 lead at the break. After the interval, the game ebbed and flowed as both players fought for each point, keeping momentum. From 17-17, Tanvi Sharma took 4 points in succession to win the first game by 21-17.

It was an ideal start to Wiryawan in the 2nd game, as she maintained consistent pressure on the Indian. Tanvi stormed back with attacking shots, keeping the Indonesian in trouble. Wiryawan took a slender 11-10 lead at the break. After the interval, it was a closely fought affair, as none of the players took the game away as it went right down the wire. Tanvi held her nerves to win with a 22-20 scoreline and move into the quarterfinals. She will face 4th-seeded Supinda Kathenong of Thailand.
Unnati Hooda got past her Indian counterpart, Tanya Hemanth, in two straight games. Tanya began the initial stages of the first game on an aggressive note, taking a 6-1 lead. Hooda fought back strongly with attacking moves, keeping Tanya under trouble. At the mid-game break, Hooda showed her class to take a 11-10 lead at the break. After the interval, Hooda upped her aggression, keeping Tanya under trouble with smashes and drop shots. The match ebbed and flowed till 19-19 before Hooda held her nerves to win the first game by 21-19.
Unnati showed her domination right from the word go keeping Tanya under trouble. It was a dominating performance by young Indian keeping momentum going as Hooda led 11-5. After the interval, it was one-way traffic as Unnati put on a dominating display with attacking shots and put Tanya in trouble winning the 2nd game comfortably by 21-12 to move into quarterfinals.
Devika Sihag registered a comprehensive straight-game win over Pratiwi of Indonesia. The initial stages of the first game saw some fight by Pratiwi before Devika showed her class keeping the momentum going. After the interval, the Indian maintained her momentum to win the first game by 21-16.
Devika started the 2nd game on a positive note keeping Pratiwi under trouble with attacking moves. Despite, Pratiwi attacking moves, the Indian had a commanding 11-9 lead at the break. After the interval, it was one-way traffic as Devika maintained the momentum and kept Pratiwi reeling winning with 21-15 scoreline to move into quarterfinals. Devika Sihag and Unnati Hooda will face off each other in the quarterfinals with one of them a place in semi-finals.
After a tough first round, Anmol Kharb went down to Lin C-t of Chinese Taipei in two straight games. The first game was a one-sided affair as Kharb struggled with her shots losing with 10-21 scoreline.
Kharb produce a much better effort in the 2nd game keeping Lin under trouble with attacking shots. It was closely fought effort as Kharb took a slender 11-10 lead at the break. After the interval, both players took alternate points as the match went right down the wire keeping momentum going as the Indian suffered 20-22 loss.
