Maini Brothers Shine Across Europe as Kush Secures F2 Podium at Silverstone and Arjun Finishes on DTM Podium

Kush Maini claimed a Formula 2 podium at Silverstone while Arjun Maini secured his first DTM podium of 2026, marking a memorable weekend for Indian motorsport.
Indian motorsport enjoyed one of its most memorable weekends in recent years as brothers Kush Maini and Arjun Maini stood on podiums at two of Europe's most prestigious racing circuits.
While Kush delivered a superb third-place finish in the Formula 2 Feature Race at Silverstone, Arjun celebrated his first podium of the 2026 DTM season at the Norisring, showcasing the growing presence of Indian talent in international motorsport.
Competing in two of the world's most competitive racing championships, the Maini brothers demonstrated speed, consistency and racecraft against elite fields, making it a landmark weekend for Indian racing.
Driving for ART Grand Prix, Kush Maini arrived at Silverstone carrying encouraging form and built on it with one of his strongest weekends of the 2026 Formula 2 season. After qualifying third for Sunday's Feature Race, Maini was placed eighth on the grid for Saturday's Sprint Race due to Formula 2's reverse-grid format.
Despite starting further back, the Indian driver produced a composed and calculated drive through the field. Showing excellent overtaking ability and tyre management, he gained four positions during the race to finish fourth, narrowly missing out on a podium. Although the result did not earn silverware, it provided valuable championship points and highlighted the pace he had throughout the weekend.
The performance also served as an important confidence booster heading into the Feature Race.
Sunday's Feature Race provided the perfect opportunity for Maini to convert his qualifying speed into a podium finish. Starting from third on the grid, the Indian made an exceptional getaway, launching into the lead before the opening corner and immediately asserting himself at the front of the Formula 2 field. Leading a Formula 2 race at Silverstone, one of the most iconic circuits in world motorsport, represented another significant milestone in Maini's career.
Throughout the opening phase of the race, he demonstrated impressive race management by balancing outright pace with intelligent tyre conservation. Following the mandatory pit stops, Maini found himself engaged in an intense battle with the championship leader.
The contest featured several high-quality wheel-to-wheel exchanges, with the Indian driver defending firmly while maintaining competitive pace against one of the strongest drivers on the grid. Although he eventually settled for third place at the chequered flag, the podium was richly deserved after one of his most complete performances of the season.
The result marks Maini's second Formula 2 podium of 2026 and further strengthens his position in the championship standings.
The Silverstone weekend has significantly boosted Kush Maini's championship hopes. He now sits sixth in the Formula 2 Drivers' Championship, only six points behind the top five heading into the second half of the season. Considering the competitive nature of the Formula 2 grid, where margins between drivers are often measured in tenths of a second, Maini's steady rise reflects the consistency he has built throughout the campaign.
Rather than relying on isolated standout performances, the Indian has gradually accumulated points through regular top finishes, placing himself firmly in contention as the season enters its decisive stages.
Reflecting on his weekend, Maini said:
"Really happy with how the weekend has gone. Missed out on a double podium weekend by a small margin, but big points going into the second half of the season. Big thanks for all the support from everyone back home and JK Tyre and TVS Racing for supporting my journey."
While Kush was making headlines at Silverstone, older brother Arjun Maini was producing an equally impressive performance in Germany. Competing at the Norisring in the DTM Championship as a Ford factory driver with HRT, Arjun secured his first podium of the 2026 season. The weekend began strongly with excellent qualifying performances that saw him secure third on the grid for both races.
Starting near the front allowed Arjun to maximise his pace around the challenging street circuit, where overtaking opportunities are limited and track position often proves decisive. His consistent performance in Race 1 resulted in a well-earned podium finish, giving both himself and Ford an important result in the championship.
Arjun backed up Saturday's podium with another competitive drive in Sunday's race. The challenge, however, became considerably tougher. Following his podium finish, he carried an additional five kilograms of success ballast, a standard DTM regulation designed to equalise competition. Compounding the difficulty were changing weather conditions that brought rain and a red flag interruption.
Despite those challenges, Arjun remained among the front runners throughout the race and crossed the finish line in fourth place, narrowly missing consecutive podium finishes. His ability to remain competitive despite the extra ballast highlighted both the pace of the Ford Mustang package and his consistency behind the wheel.
Seeing two Indian drivers stand on podiums in two premier international racing championships on the same weekend is a rare achievement. Formula 2 serves as the primary pathway to Formula One, while DTM remains one of the world's most prestigious touring car championships. Success in either series is difficult.
Achieving podium finishes in both simultaneously underlines the growing standard of Indian drivers competing on the international stage.
For Indian motorsport, the performances of Kush and Arjun Maini represent more than individual achievements they demonstrate that Indian talent continues to establish itself against some of the world's best drivers. With Kush now firmly in the Formula 2 championship battle and Arjun beginning to build momentum in DTM, both brothers have positioned themselves for strong second halves of their respective seasons.
As the 2026 campaign progresses, Indian motorsport fans will be hoping this remarkable weekend marks the beginning of even greater success. Kush Maini has placed himself within striking distance of the Formula 2 championship contenders, while Arjun Maini has shown he has the pace to consistently challenge for podiums in DTM. Together, the Maini brothers continue to raise the profile of Indian motorsport on some of the biggest stages in world racing.
