The Indian shuttlers will look to showcase their title in the Super 1000 China Open tournament that will take place in Changzhou, Jiangsu, starting from tomorrow onwards. 

The men’s singles section will see Lakshya Sen take on Yushi Tanaka in the first round. Sen would be looking to prove his worth after losing during the 1^st round of the Super 750 Japan Open 2026 played in Tokyo. 

Ayush Shetty will face a stiff challenge of Alwi Farhan of Indonesia. Shetty lost in three games against 2^nd seeded Kulvanut Vitisdarn. Shetty would be looking to showcase his skills and move into the 2^nd round. HS Prannoy will be returning to action after some time, as he will face Leong JH of Malaysia. Prannoy would be hoping for a good performance and move ahead into the next round. From these three men’s singles players, all of them can enter into the 2^nd round if they play to their potential.

The winner of the Japan Open 2026, PV Sindhu, will face Indian counterpart Unnati Hooda in the first round. She would be looking to continue her superb form and enter the 2^nd round. Sindhu might face An Se Young or Nidaira of Japan.

Devika Sihag will be playing her maiden China Open tournament. She would face B. Ongambhurghan of Thailand in the first round. It will be a good challenge for Devika as she would look to take on the higher-ranked Thai player and move into the 2^nd round. 

The men’s doubles pairing of Satwik/Chirag Shetty have withdrawn their names due to a shoulder injury to Satwik. It is good news, as they need to gear up for the prestigious World Badminton Championship that will take place in New Delhi from August 13^th onwards. 

MR Arjun and Amsakarunan will face 4^th seeded Liang and Wang of China in the first round. It will be a tough challenge for the Indian pairing as they need to play their best to defeat the Chinese. 

There will be no women’s doubles pairing featuring in this prestigious tournament. Tressa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand are recovering from an injury. 

The mixed doubles section will see Rohan Kapoor/Shivani Gadde take on top-seeded Feng YZ and Huang of China. Rohan/Shivani faces uphill task as they faced the same opponent in the first round itself of Japan Open 2026.

Dhurv Kapila/Tanisha Crasto will face 5^th seeded Guo XW and Chen FH of China in the first round. It will be a tough challenge for the Indian pairing as they will face higher ranked pairing.

Men’s Singles

Lakshya Sen slipped down 3 places to number 7. After being knocked out in the first round of the Super 750 Japan Open, Sen would be looking to show consistency and move ahead in the next stages of this tournament. Ayush Shetty again slipped down to 35^th rank after being knocked out in the first round itself of the Japan Open 2026. 

Prannoy is currently at 49^th place in the World Tour Finals rankings. He will look to climb up the table with good performances during the Super 1000 China Open 2026. 

Women’s Singles 

PV Sindhu climbed up 7 places to number 7^th after becoming the first Indian to win the Japan Open 2026, defeating host Akane Yamaguchi in straight games by 21-17, 21-17. 

Devika Sihag climbed 2 places up to number 32^nd in the World Tour finals rankings. She will be looking to prove her worth against the world best with Super 1000 China Open 2026. 

Men’s Doubles 

Satwik/Chirag will slip further in the World Tour finals after withdrawing from the China Open 2026. 

MR Arjun and Amsakarunan is currently at number 6^th in the World Tour finals rankings. They need to showcase their skills against the 4^th seeded and move ahead in the tournament. 

Rohan Kapoor/Shivani Gadde is currently at 17^th position with disappointing performances. They will face uphill challenge as they take on the top seeded Chinese duo of Feng and Huang. 

Dhruv Kapila/Tanisha Crasto has been struggling for form at number 22^nd in World Tour finals rankings. They need to showcase their skills against the 5^th seeded Guo and Chen. 

According to me, PV Sindhu has a chance to go all the way if she can beat An Se Young in the 2^nd round. Lakshya Sen, Ayush Shetty and Prannoy need to be consistent with improved performances so that they can have chance against top quality players. Devika Sihag needs to play her best game to defeat Busnan Ongambhurghan. The mixed doubles pairing of Kapila/Tanisha & Rohan/Shivani need to play their best badminton to defeat their respective Chinese duo. 

China Open is the last Super 1000 event this year. The Indian shuttlers will look to go deep to earn higher points and move up the rankings in World Tour finals.
