Crislan’s Decisive Strike Sends Gokulam Kerala Top After Hard-Fought Win Over Rajasthan United

Crislan da Silva scored the winner as Gokulam Kerala beat 10-man Rajasthan United 1-0 in Jaipur to move top of the Indian Football League 2026–27 table.
The Brazilian forward scores the only goal in Jaipur before Novin Gurung’s red card leaves Rajasthan with 10 men. Gokulam hold firm under late pressure to secure their second consecutive victory.
Gokulam Kerala FC moved to the top of the Indian Football League 2026–27 standings after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Rajasthan United FC at the Vidyadhar Nagar Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday. Crislan da Silva’s 68th-minute strike proved decisive in a contest that remained finely balanced for long periods, before Rajasthan were reduced to 10 men following Novin Gurung’s dismissal.
The result gave Gokulam six points from their opening two matches, strengthening their early position in the league. For Rajasthan United, it was another frustrating afternoon. They remain at the bottom of the table without a point, having failed to convert several promising opportunities into goals.
Crislan was the difference between the sides, earning the Man of the Match award for his decisive contribution. Ten minutes after scoring, he also forced the match’s defining disciplinary moment when Gurung brought him down as he raced towards goal.
The opening exchanges suggested an open contest, with both sides looking to use the width of the pitch. Gokulam’s Sachu Siby and Rajasthan’s Brijesh Giri delivered dangerous crosses inside the first two minutes.
Victor da Silva created the first clear opening in the fifth minute, moving past two challenges near the Rajasthan penalty area before testing Amrit Gope with a low shot. Rajasthan responded through Ricky Vanlalhriatsanga, who cut inside from the left and curled an effort wide two minutes later.
Crislan tested Gope from distance in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper dealt comfortably with the effort. Rajasthan then enjoyed their most threatening spell of the first half, with Diego Mauricio leading the attack. The forward drove into the box in the 17th minute, only for his shot to be blocked behind for a corner.
A minute later, Judah Garcia delivered a dangerous cross that deflected off Crislan. Shibin Raj gathered the loose ball on the goal line before Mauricio could reach it.
The first half was also interrupted by injuries. Gokulam were forced to replace Ayush Adhikari, who went down holding his hamstring, with Jobby Justin. Rajasthan's Pardeep Singh was subsequently carried off after suffering a blow near his waist, with Shafeel PP entering the game.
Gokulam miss chances before the break
The visitors grew more confident as the half progressed and created opportunities to take the lead. In the 31st minute, Victor's lofted pass found Crislan making a run into the penalty area. Gope rushed off his line to clear, and the ball fell to Makan Chothe. With the goalkeeper out of position, Chothe attempted a first-time finish towards the open goal but sent his effort wide.
Victor and Crislan combined again seven minutes later. The former delivered an outswinging corner, and Crislan rose highest to direct a header narrowly past the post.
Lalramsanga came close in the 42nd minute with a long-range effort that forced Gope into a full-stretch dive, but the shot flashed wide. Rajasthan had the final opportunity before half-time when Brijesh drove into the box and attempted to beat Shibin at his near post. His effort also missed the target, leaving the teams level at the interval.
The second half began at a slower tempo, with Gokulam enjoying more possession but struggling to create clear openings. Sarthak Golui came close in the 58th minute after moving forward to meet a long throw, but his header went narrowly wide.
The demanding Jaipur conditions also affected the rhythm of the match. The heat and cramp among players from both teams contributed to a stop-start second half.
The breakthrough finally arrived in the 68th minute. Golui launched a long ball into the attacking third, and Adrian Castellano's attempted headed clearance looped behind him. Crislan reacted quickly, controlled the situation and lifted the ball over the advancing Gope into the net.
Rajasthan attempted to respond immediately. Christopher Kamei had an opportunity from a dangerous free-kick in the 73rd minute, but his effort failed to clear the Gokulam wall.
Gurung sent off as Rajasthan push for equaliser
Rajasthan's task became considerably harder in the 78th minute. Victor played an excellent through ball into Crislan's path, giving the Brazilian a clear run towards goal. Novin Gurung brought him down just outside the penalty area, and with the defender judged to be the last man, the referee showed him a straight red card.
Gokulam were awarded a free-kick, while Rajasthan were left to chase an equaliser with 10 players. Despite the numerical disadvantage, the hosts continued to attack. Pranjal Bhumij emerged as their main threat, cutting in from the left in the 84th minute before forcing Shibin Raj into a low save.
Pranjal tried again in the first minute of added time, bending an effort towards goal after moving inside from the flank. Shibin tracked the ball and parried it away, preserving Gokulam's advantage.
Rajasthan had the better of the closing stages, but Gokulam's defence held firm to secure the narrow victory.
The result gives Gokulam an early lead in the standings, with six points from two matches. Their next assignment will be an away fixture against Nagaland United Sports Club at the Chümoukedima Football Stadium in Dimapur on November 14.
Rajasthan United will look to get their campaign moving when they travel to face Samaleswari SC at the Birsa Munda Athletics Stadium in Rourkela on November 15. For Gokulam, Crislan's finishing and the team's defensive resilience proved decisive. For Rajasthan, the defeat leaves clear questions around converting attacking pressure into goals and maintaining discipline in crucial moments.
