FC Goa host Sporting Club Delhi in the ISL 2026-27 on October 28 as the Gaurs seek a winning return after their AFC Challenge League exit and Delhi chase their first points.

FC Goa will look to regain momentum in the 2026-27 season when they host Sporting Club Delhi in the MG Indian Super League (ISL) on Wednesday, October 28.

The Gaurs return to domestic action following their exit from the AFC Challenge League, while Sporting Club Delhi arrive at Fatorda looking to convert promising performances into their first points of the campaign.

The match presents contrasting challenges for both sides. FC Goa will be keen to re-establish their rhythm after a spell away from league football, while Sporting Club Delhi must address their inability to protect leads after suffering defeats in their opening two matches. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM IST, with the match available live on the MG ISL YouTube channel and the Sony Sports Network.

FC Goa Seek a Winning Return

FC Goa have played just once in the league so far, drawing 1-1 against Chennaiyin FC. Their immediate priority will be to build consistency in the domestic competition after their continental campaign ended in disappointment.

Head coach Gouramangi Singh stressed that his team must approach the fixture with the right intensity and concentration, underlining the importance of returning to league action with a victory. “Every game is important. Our game against Delhi is particularly important for us. Since we are back now (from Asian competition), we want to start with a win,” Singh said.

The Goa coach will want his players to translate that determination into a strong performance at home. With the team having played only once in the league, Wednesday’s contest offers an opportunity to establish momentum and strengthen its position early in the campaign.

Christian ‘Chiki’ Borrego could be an important attacking presence for the hosts. The forward has scored in his last four games across competitions, providing Goa with a player capable of making a difference in the final third.

However, Borrego is focused on collective success rather than individual milestones. “I prefer scoring goals for getting wins,” he said.

His comments reflect Goa’s immediate objective: turning attacking contributions into results. Against a Delhi side that has conceded late goals after taking the lead, Goa will look to remain composed and make its opportunities count.

Sporting Club Delhi have endured a difficult start to their campaign, losing their first two matches despite showing encouraging attacking intent. Their opening fixture against Bengaluru FC saw them lead 2-1 at half-time before eventually suffering a 3-2 defeat. They followed that performance by taking a 1-0 lead against Mohun Bagan Super Giant, only to lose 2-1.

The similarities between the two results underline the central challenge facing the team. Delhi have demonstrated that they can compete with established opponents and create scoring opportunities, but maintaining their advantage over the full 90 minutes has proved difficult.

Head coach Tomasz Tchórz remains encouraged by the quality of his team’s performances and believes the results do not tell the complete story. “I am very happy with the performance of the team. I think we played a very good game. We repeated what was a very good first half performance in Bengaluru. We were dangerous and created a lot of chances against a strong opponent but unfortunately we couldn't score more goals,” he said.

Tchórz’s assessment suggests that Delhi are not short of attacking ideas. Their challenge is to combine that threat with greater efficiency in front of goal and improved defensive discipline when protecting a lead. Defender Clarence Fernandes acknowledged the issue, identifying game management as an area requiring immediate improvement.

“We should know how to hold the lead,” Fernandes said. Against FC Goa, Delhi will need to ensure that promising spells translate into points. Another defeat after leading would deepen the pressure on a team still searching for its first result of the season.

The fixture will also be a return to familiar territory for Sporting Club Delhi defender Sanatomba Singh Yanglem, who previously represented FC Goa. His knowledge of the club could add an interesting dimension to the encounter as Delhi attempt to overcome the hosts on their home ground. The previous meeting between the sides ended in a 1-0 victory for FC Goa in February, with Dejan Dražić scoring the decisive goal. Goa will look to repeat that outcome, while Delhi will aim to produce a different result this time.

Bob Jackson Raj is expected to be available for FC Goa, while Harsh Patre and Aakash Sangwan are set to remain sidelined for some time. The hosts will hope to use their home advantage to secure their first league victory of the campaign. For Delhi, the focus will be on building on their positive attacking performances while correcting the defensive lapses that have cost them points in consecutive matches.

Wednesday’s encounter could therefore hinge on which side manages key moments more effectively. Goa need to rediscover their domestic rhythm after their Asian disappointment, while Delhi must demonstrate that they can sustain their performance beyond promising starts.

At Fatorda, attacking intent alone will not be enough. FC Goa will want a result that restores confidence, and Sporting Club Delhi need to show they have learned from their opening setbacks.
