IFL: Namdhari FC Capitalise on Red Card to Ease Past Real Kashmir in Crucial Relegation Clash

Namdhari FC delivered one of their most complete performances of the season to defeat Real Kashmir FC 3-0 in the relegation stage of the Star Cement IFL 2025-26 at the Deccan Arena in Hyderabad on Monday.
Goals from Manvir Singh, Manish Chaudhary and Najib Fuseini Ibrahim secured three vital points for Namdhari, significantly boosting their survival hopes in a tightly contested bottom-half battle. The result lifts Namdhari to 10 points, placing them third in the relegation standings, while Real Kashmir remain second with 11 points despite the heavy defeat.
The match, however, told a story of contrasting approaches.
Real Kashmir began with urgency and intent, dominating possession and pushing forward with purpose in the opening exchanges. Their attacking structure, led by Marius Obekop and Ateeb Ahmed Dar, looked to stretch Namdhari’s defensive shape and supply forward options Mohammad Inam and Shedrack Charles. With survival within touching distance, Real Kashmir’s approach was aggressive and direct. Yet, despite controlling nearly 78 per cent of possession in the first half, they lacked the cutting edge required to break down a disciplined Namdhari defence.
Instead, it was Namdhari who struck first and against the run of play.
In the 12th minute, Manvir Singh rose highest to meet a cross into the box, and his header, aided by an awkward bounce in front of goalkeeper Furkan Ahmad Dar, found its way into the net. The goal shifted the momentum instantly, forcing Real Kashmir to chase the game despite their early dominance. Namdhari’s approach thereafter was clear.
They dropped into a compact defensive block, denied central spaces and waited for opportunities to counter. The visitors remained dangerous in transition, with quick forward breaks and set-pieces posing consistent threats. Real Kashmir continued to control possession but struggled to translate it into meaningful chances. Shedrack Charles remained isolated up front, while the final ball often lacked precision.
The second goal just before half-time proved a turning point. Deep into stoppage time, Manish Chaudhary spotted goalkeeper Furkan Ahmad Dar off his line and executed a superb long-range effort that curled into the net. It was a moment of individual brilliance that perfectly captured Namdhari’s clinical edge in contrast to Real Kashmir’s inefficiency.
Despite dominating possession, Real Kashmir entered the break trailing 2-0 a reflection of their inability to convert control into goals.
The second half began in similar fashion, with Real Kashmir pushing forward in search of a breakthrough. Basit Ahmed Bhat attempted to create openings from wide areas, while Inam tested goalkeeper Niraj Kumar with a low effort that required a sharp save. However, Namdhari’s defensive structure remained organised and disciplined, limiting clear opportunities.
The contest took a decisive turn in the 58th minute. Real Kashmir goalkeeper Furkan Ahmad Dar was shown a straight red card after a reckless challenge on Seilenthang Lotjem outside the penalty area. The dismissal reduced the hosts to ten men and further complicated an already difficult situation. From that moment, the match tilted firmly in Namdhari’s favour. Even with a numerical disadvantage, Real Kashmir continued to push forward, committing players in attack in an attempt to salvage something from the game. However, the lack of numbers in key areas became increasingly evident. Namdhari, meanwhile, remained patient.
They absorbed pressure effectively and looked to exploit the spaces left behind by Real Kashmir’s advancing lines. Substitute goalkeeper Sayad Bin Abdul Kadir made a fine save to deny Rohit, but the overall pattern of the game remained unchanged. Real Kashmir’s best opportunity came late in the match. Christian Moses found himself in a promising position inside the box, but his close-range effort lacked conviction and was comfortably saved. It summed up a frustrating evening for the hosts, who struggled to convert possession into decisive moments.
Namdhari eventually sealed the result in stoppage time.
With Real Kashmir stretched and chasing the game, Manvir Singh released Najib Ibrahim with a precise through ball. The forward showed composure to slot past the goalkeeper and make it 3-0, putting the outcome beyond doubt. The goal capped off a clinical and disciplined performance from Namdhari. For Real Kashmir, the defeat will raise serious concerns. Despite dominating large portions of the game, their inability to create and finish chances, combined with defensive lapses and the costly red card, proved decisive. With survival still within reach, they will need to quickly address these issues in the remaining fixtures.
For Namdhari, however, this was a statement win. In a high-pressure relegation battle, they demonstrated exactly what is required defensive organisation, efficiency in front of goal and composure in key moments.
As the relegation stage progresses, results like these could ultimately define their season.
