The Indian shuttlers had a decent outing as four of them entered into the quarterfinals with impressive wins over their opponents in the Super 300 Korea Masters 2026 played at Asan, South Korea, on 6th August.
Asmitha Chahilha began the outing for India as she defeated Kim Min Ji of South Korea in two straight games. Both players started taking alternate points before Asmitha showed her class with attacking shots, keeping momentum going. At the mid-game break, the Indian led 11-8. After the interval, Asmitha maintained momentum with aggressive shots, keeping momentum going. Kim tried to make a comeback, taking points in succession before the Indian held her nerves, winning the first game by 21-17.
The initial stages of the 2nd game saw both players taking alternate points before Asmitha showed her domination, keeping Kim under trouble with attacking shots. At the mid-game break, the Indian had a commanding 11-3 lead. After the interval, it was one-way traffic, as Asmitha did not allow any chances for her opponent to win with a 21-6 scoreline and moved into the quarterfinals. She will face the top-seeded H Akechi of Japan.
Tanvi Sharma registers a thrilling 3-game win over Indian counterpart Shreyanshi Valishetty. Both players started the first game on equal note, taking alternate points before Valishetty showed class, putting Tanvi under serious trouble and taking a 11-7 lead at the break. After the interval, Tanvi made a stunning comeback to take points in succession to level scores at 12-12. Tanvi showed her class keeping momentum going, winning the first game by 21-16.
The second game saw Valishetty producing a dominating game right from the word go, putting Tanvi under serious trouble. Despite Tanvi’s fightback, Valishetty held her nerves to win the 2nd game by 21-17.
It was another closely fought affair in the initial stages of the third game with both players taking alternate points. Tanvi looked impressive with her attacking style before Valishetty made a strong comeback to level the scores at 8-8. The Taipei Open winner Tanvi showed her class taking a 11-8 lead at the break. After the interval, Tanvi maintained the momentum, keeping Valishetty under trouble, winning the deciding game comfortably by 21-13 to move into the quarterfinals.
Santosh Ramraj stunned M Suizu of Japan in two straight games. Suizu started the first game on a positive note, keeping Ramraj under serious trouble with her attacking style of play. Despite some fightback, Suizu took a commanding 11-7 lead at the break. After the interval, Ramraj showed great fighting spirit to keeping the Japanese under pressure with her attacking style. Both players fought for each point before Suizu had a game point before Ramraj held her nerves, winning with a 22-20 scoreline.
Ramraj began the 2nd game with aggression dominating right from the word go, keeping Suizu under serious trouble. At the mid-game break, the Indian had a commanding 11-5 lead. After the interval, it was one-way traffic as Ramraj maintained momentum, winning with a comfortable 21-10 scoreline. Ramraj and Tanvi Sharma will face off each other in the quarterfinals tomorrow. It will be a tough fight as both players will look to continue their winning momentum.
The men’s doubles pairing of KP Garaga and Prateek Roy defeated Kim Y-h & Shin T-y of South Korea in two straight games. It was an impressive performance by the Indian pairing right from the word go.
The first game saw Garaga and Prateek showing their class, keeping Kim and Shin under serious trouble with attacking shots with a 11-5 lead at the break. After the interval, the South Korean pair fought back strongly to level the scores. The Indian pairing made an impressive comeback to take points in succession, winning the first game by 21-18.
The second game saw Kim and Shin putting on a dominating display in the initial stages before Indian pairing fought back strongly. At the mid-game break, Garaga and Prateek took a 11-8 lead. Despite some fightback by Kim and Shin, Indian pairing won the 2nd game by 21-19 to move into the quarterfinals. They will face Man WC and Soh WY of Malaysia.
However, it was curtains as Ishrani Burah, Anmol Kharb & Mansi Singh went down to their respective opponents in three games.
Ishrani Burah went down to local favourites E. Lee in three thrilling games that tested each other to the limit. It was a solid start for Burah during the initial stages of the first game, keeping Lee under pressure and maintaining a decent lead at break. After the interval, Lee showed fighting spirit to take points in succession before Burah held her nerves to win the first game by 21-17.
The second game began with both players fighting for each point. Burah was looking to the match before Lee showed courage, keeping the Indian under trouble, winning with a 21-18 scoreline.
It was a closely fought start for both players in the initial stages before Lee upped her game to take a decent lead at the break. Burah produced a stunning comeback, pushing Lee under immense pressure, but it was not enough, as Lee won with a 21-19 scoreline.
Mansi Singh went down fighting to 4th-seeded Han Qian Xi of China in three thrilling games. Qian began the first game on a positive note, keeping Mansi under trouble with attacking shots. The Chinese maintained domination, taking a 11-7 lead at the break. After the interval, Qian looked in complete control, winning the first game by 21-12.
The second game was a closely fought contest as both players fought for each point, putting each other under trouble. At the mid-game break, Mansi took a 11-9 lead. After the interval, the Indian maintained momentum, winning the second game comfortably by 21-14.
The initial stages of the third game saw both players fighting for each point. It ebbed and flowed as none was able to take the advantage. At the mid-game break, Qian led 11-9. After the interval, Mansi took 2 points-level scores at 11-11. Despite some solid fightback by the Indian, Qian won with a 21-17 scoreline and moved into the quarterfinals.
Anmol Kharb lost to pre-qualifiers TT Vu of Vietnam in three games. Kharb began the first game on a positive note, keeping the Vietnam player under trouble. At the mid-game break, Kharb took a 11-6 lead. After the interval, Kharb looked in complete control with a 20-17 lead as it went right down the wire as Vu won the first game by 23-21.
The second game saw Kharb producing a dominating performance right from the word go, hitting attacking shots and maintaining momentum. Despite some fightback by Vu, Kharb won with a 21-15 scoreline. Kharb began the 3rd game on a positive note before Vu made a strong comeback, keeping Indian under immense pressure. At the mid-game break, Vu took a 11-8 lead. After the interval, Vu looked in a commanding position with a 19-9 scoreline before Kharb made a stunning comeback to take points in succession, but it was not enough as Vu won the decider by 21-18.
The women’s doubles pairing of R Thaker & Sonali Singh could not compete with the 7th-seeded Japanese pair of Nakade & Takashi of Japan in two straight games. Thaker and Sonali suffered a 15-21, 9-21 scoreline loss.
The mixed doubles pairing of Ishaan Bhatnagar & S Mishra lost to hosts' favourites T Shin and Kim Yu in three games. Shin and Kim produced a superb performance in the first game, keeping the Indian pairing under pressure and winning by 21-16. Bhatnagar and Mishra fought back strongly in the 2nd game, keeping the South Korean pair under pressure, winning with 21-16. It was a disappointing outing during the 3rd game by the Indian pairing, losing by 13-21.
