LA28 Opens Second Olympic Ticket Sale After More Than Four Million Tickets Sold

Organisers of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics will launch a second public ticket sale from August 10-20 after selling more than four million tickets in the first phase.
The organisers of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games have announced a second public ticket sale after the overwhelming success of the first phase, which saw more than four million tickets sold worldwide.
The next ticket sales window will run from August 10 to August 20, offering fans another opportunity to secure seats for one of the most anticipated Olympic Games in recent history.
The announcement highlights the growing excitement surrounding the Games, which will mark the third time Los Angeles hosts the Olympics after previously staging the event in 1932 and 1984.
With interest already coming from across the globe, organisers believe demand will remain exceptionally high as the countdown to LA28 continues.
According to LA28 organisers, the first ticket release generated enormous demand from both local and international fans. More than four million tickets were sold during the opening phase, with residents from the Los Angeles and Oklahoma City regions accounting for nearly 75 percent of purchases.
One of the most notable aspects of the first sale was the emphasis on affordability. Organisers revealed that approximately 500,000 tickets were sold at the symbolic price of $28, reflecting the Games' branding and commitment to accessibility. In addition, around 95 percent of all available tickets priced below $100 were purchased during the initial sales period.
The figures suggest strong enthusiasm among local communities, who are expected to play a significant role in creating the atmosphere during the Games. At the same time, the Olympics continue to attract a global audience, with tickets from the first release purchased by fans in 85 countries, all 50 U.S. states and several U.S. territories.
The second public ticket release will follow a similar process to the first phase. Fans interested in purchasing tickets must register for the LA28 ticket draw by July 22. Those who register will enter a random selection process that assigns purchasing time slots. Successful applicants will be notified on August 6 and August 7, allowing them to prepare for the sales window that begins on August 10.
The ticket draw system has been introduced to manage demand and provide fair access to fans from around the world. Unlike traditional first-come, first-served sales, the random allocation process aims to reduce congestion and improve the purchasing experience. Organisers have confirmed that tickets across all Olympic sports and a variety of price categories will be available during the second release, subject to remaining inventory.
Before the public sale begins, LA28 will conduct an exclusive presale for Visa cardholders. The Visa presale is scheduled to take place between July 29 and July 31, giving selected fans an opportunity to secure tickets ahead of the wider public release. Fans chosen for the Visa presale will receive notification on July 27.
However, organisers have clarified that those selected for the Visa presale will not be eligible for a purchasing slot during the August public ticket draw.
The initiative forms part of Visa's long-standing partnership with the Olympic movement and is expected to generate significant interest among fans seeking early access to highly sought-after events.
To ensure broad access to the Games, LA28 has also introduced purchase limits. Each buyer will be permitted to purchase up to 12 Olympic event tickets, along with an additional 12 football tournament tickets. Ceremonies, including the opening and closing ceremonies, will have stricter limits due to expected demand. Fans will be allowed to purchase a maximum of four ceremony tickets, with those tickets counting towards the overall Olympic event limit.
The restrictions are designed to discourage bulk buying while allowing as many fans as possible to attend the Games.
The latest ticket announcement comes as preparations for the Games continue to gather pace. Los Angeles is already studying major sporting events scheduled in the city over the next two years, including matches at the FIFA World Cup 2026, as organisers fine-tune operational plans ahead of the Olympics. The Games are expected to be among the largest sporting events ever staged in the United States, featuring thousands of athletes from around the world competing across a wide range of disciplines.
With several new sports and modern venue concepts expected to feature in the programme, LA28 is aiming to blend Olympic tradition with contemporary innovation.
The sale of more than four million tickets nearly two years before the Games is a strong indication of the enthusiasm surrounding Los Angeles 2028. The combination of affordable ticket options, a global fan base and the return of the Olympics to one of America's most iconic sporting cities has created significant momentum for the event. As the second ticket phase approaches, organisers expect another surge in demand from fans eager to witness history.
For those hoping to attend the Games, registration before July 22 could prove crucial, as the race for Olympic tickets continues to intensify ahead of what promises to be one of the most memorable editions of the Summer Olympics.
