

Macau Open 2026 Day 3: Two Indian Shuttlers Qualify For QF

Anmol Kharb produced a dominating performance over Goh Jin Wei of Malaysia. Kharb looked in great touch right from the word go putting enough pressure on the Malaysian. At the mid-game break, Kharb took a commanding 11-3 lead. After the interval, Goh retired with the Indian having dominating 8 points at 12-4. She will now face Han QX of China.
Asmita Chailha registered closely fought victory in two straight games over Ishika Jaiswal of USA. Chailha began the first game on aggressive note putting Jaiswal under immense pressure. Jaiswal fought back strongly before the young Indian took a 11-9 lead at the break. After the interval, Chahilha committed lots of unforced errors with Jaiswal taking advantage of it. It was a closely fought affair as Jaiswal had a match point before the Indian held her nerves to win with 22-20 scoreline.
The second game also started with both players fighting for each point keeping each other guessing. After 5-5, Chahilha maintained pressure keeping Jaiswal under pressure with a dominating 11-6 lead. Despite some fight by Jaiswal, the Indian held her nerves with attacking smashes winning by 21-15 to move into the quarterfinals. She will now face Kim M-s of South Korea.
It was curtains for other two female shuttlers as Santosh Ramraj, Shreyanshi Valishetty and Ishrani Burah went down in two straight games to their respective opponents.
The 7th seeded Shreyanshi Valishetty went down to Kim M-j of South Korea in two straight games. Valishetty and Kim started the first game on a positive note taking alternate points before Valishetty took a lead. After the break, Kim showed class putting pressure on the Indian taking points in succession before winning first game by 21-16
Both players began the 2nd game on equal footings before Valishetty provided some resistance. Despite some resistance at the end, Kim won the 2nd game with similar scoreline of 21-16.
Santosh Ramraj lost to Min Sun of South Korea in two straight games. It was a good start for Ramraj initially before Sun showed her class putting Ramraj under pressure. At the mid-game break, Ramraj took a lead. After the break, Sun showed her class keeping momentum winning first game easily by 21-15.
Ramraj struggled in the second game as Sun put enough pressure with attacking shots. At the mid-game break, Sun had a commanding 11-4 lead. After the interval, it was one-way traffic as the South Korean won with 21-9 scoreline.
Ishrani Burah also ended his tournament with a well fought effort against Kim Ga Eun of South Korea. Both players fought for each point in the first game before Kim put on dominating display with a decent lead. After the interval, Ishrani fought back strongly to take points in succession giving some hopes of winning. The Indian committed unforced errors as she lost the first game by 19-21.
The second game was another closely fought affair as both players fought for each point keeping the fight going on. Despite some solid effort by Burah, she lost the second game by 21-23 scoreline. Burah committed unforced errors as she struggled and body language did not look good.
The men’s singles section saw both Tharun Mannepalli and Raunak Chahuhan losing to their Chinese opponents in two straight games. Tharun Mannepalli lost to Dong Ying of China in two straight games. It was a closely fought affair as both players took alternate points. At the mid-game break, Tharun had a slender 11-10 lead. After the interval, both players fought for each point, as Dong held his nerves to win by 24-22.
The second game also began with both players fighting for each point before Dong kept the pressure on Tharun. At the mid-game break, Dong had a commanding 11-6 lead. After the interval, despite some efforts by Tharun, Dong won the 2nd game easily by 21-15.
Raunak Chahuhan went down in straight games against Z Hu of China. Raunak struggled right from the word go during the 1st game. It was a disappointing performance by the young Indian losing by 13-21.
The second game was a much-better contest as both players took alternate points before Zu played attacking badminton taking a 11-7 lead. After the interval, Raunak showed fighting spirit, but it was not enough as Zu won second game comfortably 21-17.
The mixed doubles pairing of Ishaan Bhatnagar and S Mishra went down fighting to sixth seeded H Li and K Huang of China in three thrilling games. It was a mouth-watering clash right from the word go.
Bhatnagar and Mishra put on a brilliant display of badminton keeping the Chinese under pressure to win the first game with closely fought affair of 21-19. The second game also went down same vein as both pairs took alternate points. It ebbed and flowed, but this time Li and Huang won by 22-20.
The third game began with both pairs fighting for each point before Li and Huang kept pressure on Indian taking 11-8 lead at the break. After the interval, despite some fight by Indian pairing, Li and Huang held their nerves to win by 21-16.
