PV Sindhu defeated Denmark's Line Højmark Kjærsfeldt 21-12, 21-14 to win the Hylo Open 2026 Super 500 title, her second BWF World Tour crown of the season

PV Sindhu returned to the top of the podium with a commanding victory over Denmark's Line Højmark Kjærsfeldt in the women's singles final of the Hylo Open 2026 in Germany on Sunday.

The Indian star defeated the World No. 25 21-12, 21-14 in 39 minutes to clinch the Super 500 title and secure her second BWF World Tour crown of the season. The victory adds another significant achievement to Sindhu's decorated career. It is her first Hylo Open Super 500 title, her seventh BWF World Tour title and her second tournament victory of 2026, following her triumph at the Japan Open Super 750 in July.

For the double Olympic medallist and former world champion, the title also carries significance beyond the trophy. It marks the first time since 2022 that she has won two titles in a calendar year, underlining her ability to remain competitive at the highest level of international badminton.

Sindhu entered the final against Kjærsfeldt with confidence after a strong week in Saarbrücken. The Indian had won all four of her previous matches in straight games and continued that pattern in the championship match.

The opening game saw Sindhu establish control early, using her attacking game and court coverage to put the Danish player under pressure. Kjærsfeldt struggled to find consistent opportunities to dictate rallies as Sindhu maintained her advantage through the game.

The Indian eventually closed out the first game 21-12, moving one step closer to the title.

Kjærsfeldt needed a response in the second game, but Sindhu did not allow the contest to become complicated. She continued to control the exchanges, combining her attacking strokes with disciplined shot placement to prevent the Dane from building sustained momentum.

Sindhu maintained her advantage and sealed the game 21-14, completing a straight-games victory in just 39 minutes. The scoreline reflected the Indian's control of the contest. Against a player ranked 25th in the world, Sindhu produced a composed performance and ensured that the final never developed into a prolonged battle.

Five straight-game victories underline Sindhu's form

Sindhu's title-winning campaign was built on consistency across the week. She registered five consecutive straight-game victories, demonstrating an ability to manage matches without allowing opponents to force deciding games.

Her run to the final had already generated considerable momentum, particularly after she reached the championship match of the French Open the previous week. Although that campaign ended in defeat, Sindhu responded strongly in Germany, converting another deep tournament run into a title.

The Hylo Open victory is therefore an important indication of her ability to recover quickly from disappointment and maintain competitive consistency across consecutive international tournaments. It also represents a significant return to form for a player who has spent much of her career competing against the world's leading shuttlers. At World No. 8, Sindhu remains India's leading women's singles player and continues to be a major presence on the BWF World Tour.

The Hylo Open title adds to Sindhu's growing collection of international honours. Her first BWF World Tour title of the season came at the Japan Open Super 750 in July. Winning the Hylo Open Super 500 now gives her two titles in 2026.

The latest victory is her seventh BWF World Tour title overall. It is also her third title at the Super 500 level or above, and her second specifically in the Super 500 category.

For Indian badminton, Sindhu's success is another important result on the international circuit. Her achievements across Olympic Games, World Championships and BWF World Tour events have made her one of the most accomplished players in the country's badminton history.

At the Hylo Open, she once again demonstrated the experience and match management that have defined her career. Rather than allowing the final to become a contest of extended rallies and momentum swings, she maintained control and finished the job in straight games.

The timing of Sindhu's victory makes it particularly valuable. Having reached the French Open final just a week earlier, she has now followed that performance with a tournament-winning campaign in Germany.

Back-to-back deep runs, capped by the Hylo Open title, provide an important boost as she looks to maintain her position among the world's leading women's singles players. For Sindhu, this is more than another addition to her trophy cabinet. It is confirmation that she can convert strong tournament performances into titles and sustain her competitiveness across the demanding international calendar.

The Hylo Open 2026 will be remembered as another milestone in her career: a first title at the tournament, a second crown of the season and a seventh BWF World Tour triumph.

With five straight-game wins behind her, Sindhu leaves Germany firmly back in the winner's circle.
