India’s Yuki Bhambri continued his impressive resurgence on the ATP doubles circuit as he and New Zealand partner Michael Venus powered into the final of the ATP 250 Geneva Open with a commanding straight-sets victory in the semifinals.

The third-seeded Indo-Kiwi pair defeated Czech duo Adam Pavlasek and Patrik Rikl 7-5, 6-3 in a high-quality semifinal clash to book their place in the title match. Bhambri and Venus will now face Monaco’s Romain Arneodo and Australia’s Marc Polmans in the final as they chase their first ATP title together this season. The victory capped another dominant week for Bhambri and Venus, who have steadily grown stronger with every round in Geneva.

After opening their campaign with an impressive win over Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela and Marcus Willis, the pair followed it up with a hard-fought quarterfinal victory against Swiss duo Jakub Paul and Dominic Stricker before producing one of their most complete performances in the semifinals.

Against Pavlasek and Rikl, Bhambri and Venus looked composed right from the opening exchanges. Both teams held serve comfortably early in the first set, with neither pair willing to offer easy opportunities.

The crucial breakthrough finally arrived late in the set. At 6-5, Bhambri and Venus raised the intensity on return, forcing errors from the Czech pair before capitalising on a decisive break opportunity to seal the opener 7-5. The set highlighted one of the biggest strengths of the Indo-Kiwi combination throughout the tournament their ability to remain patient under pressure and execute aggressively during critical moments.

Once they secured the first set, the momentum completely shifted in their favour. The second set saw Bhambri and Venus dominate more consistently on serve while also attacking the net with greater authority. Venus brought his trademark experience and calmness at the net, while Bhambri’s sharp reflexes and aggressive returning repeatedly unsettled the Czech pair.

An early break gave them control of the set, and from there, they never looked in danger. The 6-3 finish reflected their superiority in the latter stages of the contest as they closed out the match efficiently to secure a place in the final. For Yuki Bhambri, the run in Geneva continues another encouraging chapter in his doubles revival. Once regarded as one of India’s brightest singles prospects, Bhambri’s career was severely disrupted by multiple injuries over the years. Long periods away from the tour forced him to rebuild his game repeatedly, and eventually he shifted focus towards doubles to extend his career at the highest level.

That decision is increasingly paying dividends.

Over the past two seasons, Bhambri has established himself as India’s top-ranked doubles player and has developed strong chemistry with several experienced partners on tour. His partnership with former Grand Slam champion Michael Venus appears particularly balanced, with both players complementing each other effectively. Bhambri’s movement and return game blend well with Venus’ serving strength and net play, making them a dangerous pairing against any opposition.

Their run in Geneva has demonstrated exactly why they are considered one of the stronger combinations in the ATP 250 field this week. The pair began the tournament with a dominant victory over Mexico’s Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela and Britain’s Marcus Willis. That match also attracted attention because of Willis’ cult popularity among tennis fans following his unforgettable 2016 Wimbledon run, where he famously faced Roger Federer on Centre Court after coming through qualifying.

Bhambri and Venus, however, were clinical throughout that opening-round contest. In the quarterfinals, they then overcame home favourites Jakub Paul and Dominic Stricker in another straight-sets battle, winning 7-6(4), 7-5 to progress to the semifinals. Against the Swiss pair, Bhambri and Venus displayed remarkable composure in pressure moments, particularly during the first-set tiebreak and late stages of the second set. That victory appeared to give them additional confidence heading into the semifinal clash.

Now, only one hurdle remains between them and the title. The final against Arneodo and Polmans promises to be a stern test. Both opponents are experienced doubles specialists capable of producing aggressive, high-tempo tennis, particularly on faster surfaces. Still, Bhambri and Venus will enter the match with momentum firmly on their side.

Beyond the immediate title opportunity, the Geneva run also arrives at an important stage of the season with the French Open approaching rapidly. Strong performances at ATP events before a Grand Slam often provide valuable confidence and rhythm, especially in doubles where partnerships rely heavily on chemistry and communication. For Indian tennis fans, Bhambri’s resurgence has been one of the most positive stories of recent years. After battling repeated injuries and uncertainty earlier in his career, the 32-year-old has rebuilt himself into a consistent ATP doubles performer capable of competing deep into international tournaments.

Geneva now offers him another chance to add an ATP trophy to that comeback story.

And judging by the form Bhambri and Venus have shown this week, they will head into the final believing the title is very much within reach.
