Lawn Bowls: India remain in the semi-final hunt

India's defeat isn't as damaging as it first appeared. In the other Group B fixture, England went down to South Africa, leaving the standings finely balanced.

With one round of matches remaining, India, England and Namibia are level on points, keeping the semifinal race wide open.

The equation for India is straightforward: beat England later today, and they stay firmly in contention for a place in the last four.

Lawn Bowls: India fall in the tiebreak.

    Heartbreak for the Indian pair.

After forcing the match into a decider, India were beaten 3-0 in the one-end tie-break, handing Namibia the victory. It is India's first defeat of the competition.

Weightlifting: Rishikanta Singh begins India's medal quest

Weightlifting gets underway at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, with Rishikanta Singh Chananbam representing India in the men's 60kg category.

The reigning 2025 Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships gold medallist enters as one of the favourites, having declared the second-highest opening weight among the 11 lifters in the field. That means it will be a while before the Indian steps onto the platform.

Lawn Bowls: India force the match into a tie-break

India have guaranteed themselves the second set, taking the fourth end to extend their lead to 8-1.

While one more end remains in the set, it will only affect the points table and shot difference. Namibia can no longer overturn the deficit, as the maximum a team can score in a single end is six points.

The match will now be decided in a one-end tie-break.

Lawn Bowls: Namibia snatch the opening set

A dramatic turnaround from Namibia as Steenkamp and Viljoen combined brilliantly in the final end, producing a series of outstanding bowls to collect three points and overturn the deficit. The late surge sees Namibia claim the first set 7-5, leaving Pinki Singh and Rupa Rani Tirkey needing a response in the second set.

Lawn Bowls: Namibia respond, but India stay ahead

Namibia opened their account in style. Steenkamp delivered a superb first bowl that came to rest almost touching the jack before Viljoen backed it up with another excellent delivery to secure two points.

Despite Namibia's strong response, India continues to lead 5-2 after three ends of the opening set.

Lawn Bowls: India make a strong start against Namibia

India couldn't have asked for a better opening. Pinki Singh carried her impressive form into this match, delivering two bowls closest to the jack from her three attempts to help India claim the opening end 2-0. An encouraging start for the Indian pair, though there's still plenty of lawn bowls left to play.

India's action on Day 3 of the Commonwealth Games 2026 begins with Rupa Rani Tirkey and Pinki Singh taking on Namibia in the Women's Pairs lawn bowls competition.
