The Indian women’s cricket team made history as they won the one-off Test match against the hosts England by 270 runs on the fourth morning at iconic Lord's Cricket Stadium, London, on 13th July 2026. 

After being asked to bat first by Nat Sciver-Brunt, the Indian team put on a dominating display with Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma scoring half-centuries to help the Indian women’s team post 285. 

India’s bowling was up to the mark as they kept disciplined lines and lengths, not allowing any breathing room to the England team. It was a remarkable performance to bundle out the hosts for 170 in the first innings, giving the visitors a 115 lead. The second innings saw an historic moment as Yastika Bhatia became the first women's player to score a century at the iconic venue. It was a superb batting effort by the Indian team, posting 341 for 7 declared to set up a challenging target of 457 to win. 

The Indian bowlers kept it tight in the second innings with Amy Jones providing some resistance for England. It was a brilliant bowling display to bundle out the hosts for 186 to register famous 270 run win.

Smriti Mandhana

Smriti Mandhana looked in sublime touch, putting the bad deliveries away for boundaries and keeping the scoreboard ticking with ease against the lack of disciplined bowling by England pacers, including Lauren Bell, Lauren Filer, and Sophie Ecclestone. Mandhana raced away to her fifty off 50 balls in the first session only. After the lunch break, she looked confident with attacking shots. She was eventually dismissed for a well-made 83 off 108 balls, including 11 fours and 1 six.

The second innings saw Mandhana continue her superb form, putting pressure on the England bowlers. It was a good batting display by star Indian batter keeping the scoreboard ticking along with Shafali Varma. Mandhana remained not out on 69 at the end of day 2. She looked impressive in the initial stages of the 3rd day before being dismissed by Sophie Ecclestone for 70 off 130 balls, including 9 fours and 1 six, to set up a solid foundation for the Indian women and a massive target for the England team. 

Kranti Goud 

Kranti Goud created history by becoming the first bowler to be on the honours board. After being bundled out for 285 late on day 1, Goud produced some lovely deliveries, keeping England openers on the backfoot. 

Goud got rid of Tammy Beaumont with a superb delivery to make an early breakthrough. The 22-year-old pace bowler could have gotten Heather Knight, as Kaur did not take a review for an LBW. Goud bowled superb lines and lengths on the 2nd morning, not allowing England batters to score runs easily. She dismissed Maia Boucher with a good catch by Yastika Bhatia. 

She then produced a stunning delivery to dismiss Alice Capsey, leaving England women in deep trouble at 47 for 4. Goud then dismissed the well-set Nat Sciver Brunt after the lunch break putting the hosts under serious trouble. She took her fifth wicket, dismissing Lauren Bell. It was a superb bowling effort by Goud with 5 for 37 in 17 overs to bundle out England for 170. 

Goud showed her class once again to get an early breakthrough, dismissing Tammy Beaumont with a peach of delivery. She dismissed Heather Knight with a simple catch by Richa Ghosh at short leg. Goud could have gotten 2 wickets as Yastika Bhatia & Shafali Varma dropped catches on the 4th morning. 

Kranti Goud was named the player of the match with her 7 wickets, including 5 for 37 in 17 overs, to set up a big win. 

Yastika Bhatia 

Yastika Bhatia started the first innings brilliantly with 2 boundaries before being dismissed by Lauren Bell with a lovely delivery. Bhatia showed intent right from the word go in the 2nd innings, keeping the scoreboard ticking along with Smriti Mandhana. Both of them looked impressive hitting boundaries with ease and making life tough for the England bowlers. 

Yastika remained not out on 39 at the end of day 2 as Indian women ended in a strong position at 154 for 1. Bhatia put on a superb batting display, keeping momentum going and reaching her fifty off 86 balls. The Indian team lost 3 quick wickets of Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur. Bhatia looked in good touch taking on the England bowlers. It was a lovely batting display as she remained unbeaten, nine runs short of a century. 

Yastika achieved a major milestone with a century off 145 balls. It was a dream batting effort, as she made the batting look easy. Bhatia was dismissed for a well-made 113 off 158 balls with 14 boundaries to help Indian women set up a massive target.
